    Hey Guys!
Back for another attempt at another Mississippi Gathering!
Before we go ahead and set anything into stone, we need a for sure number of people going.
We need at least 3 for it to be worthwhile, the last event we had only Mitchke showed up. A great time was had, but we were expecting a bit more.

We're shooting for sometime in November, before the holiday craze begins, and hopefully it will be a little cooler. So no 'skeeters! Also it will give us plenty of time to clear time in our schedules, hopefully dealing with the issues we had starting the previous gathering.
The property we have has at least 300 acres of property to roam, so space will NOT be an issue.

Alright! We got three hits. I spoke with Mitchke earlier today, and he's for sure up for it. Now, we just need to choose a date, and the length of the gathering.
I'm thinking, Friday to sunday. A nice weekend outing. But I'll leave it up for discussion.

Sounds like a plan. Would anybody be able to do a bow drill/ hand drill class?
That's one of my major weak points.

Alright, I know a lot about knots, as well as braiding, so we could do a class on those if anyone is interested.

We're also going to have a Trade Blanket. That seemed to have been a hit for many other gatherings, so I wanted to include it.

The co-host is a combat medic, and certified EMT, and he'll be talking about making a comprehensive FAK.

Anyone and everyone is invited, location is: Huckleberry Ln, Pearl, MS 39208, United States
At the very end of the street, we'll have a sign for ease of location.

You might consider reaching out to Tennessee here on the forum- He's amazing with friction fires! He's over in the Chattanooga, TN area and gets around a bit. I first met him at the Alabama meet-up near Talladega last February. His YT channel is Chattanooga Bushcraft. Chattanooga Bushcraft

He's a patient instructor and great with natural cordage making as well.

I recently got hired again, so I'll be there a bit later on the 11th. I'd say around 6-7pm. I'll try and cooridinate with the co-host to see when he can be there so you guys aren't left in the dust.

EDIT: Disaster! The co-host has Drill that weekend. We'll see what we can do to make sure the location is clearly marked, as well as the ground rules are known.

Yeah I was wondering about that also. Do we just bring our own food, bring something to throw in the pot or what?

Alright, been looking into the weather regarding the fire ban, it seems we'll have to go without flames, sadly..
As for vehicular access, we've got a lot of romping ground, but only a small drive-way for vehicles. Perhaps we could help you change into just "Old Man"? :p
Food is a BYO affair, we just don't have the funds to feed people for 3 days.
Group meal sounds like a great idea! Me and my friend have a favorite Bush Stew recipe, that could easily serve as a base to add onto, or we could come up with something else!
EDIT: I should also add, we don't have access to a stream/lake/puddle/pond, so water will need to be brought. I'm bring 2 cases of water, but be sure to bring extra.
And I'm a youngin', so I would gladly take the burden of moving it wherever it needed to go.

Sounds great. I'll bring food for myself as well as something to throw in the stew pot. Was really hoping for some rain oh well. I've a Coleman stove I can bring. I'll check it over this week and make sure it's in working order, haven't used any of them in a while.

You ok with me hanging a hammock? I know some folks worry about tree damage so I like to ask first.

You kiddin' me? I don't hang in anything BUT a hammock. The only way tree damage can occur, is if you use small diameter cordage, or you're heavy enough to actually crush the bark. Plus, we aren't too worried about the trees, we have about 400 acres of woodlands we can do just about whatever in.

Has anyone thought about contacting the local office of the Forestry Service, or the local Fire Dept. to obtain an exemption/exception to the fire ban just for the weekend- Stressing that the property will be occupied 24/7 for the days involved? It just don't seen right without a campfire, if you know what I mean. :31:
