I'll try to make it with Mr. Guy. I'm not really proficient per se in any skill, other than creativity perhaps. :D

So we are down to about two weeks out. Whos is in on this?

I have the bosses (wife's) permission so I'm in. Looks like we may be out from under the burn ban too so we can do some dutch oven cooking and have us a campfire!

    Who else will be there??

Where is this at. I'm in West Central AR but nut too far from OK. My ears perked up with the mention of Honobia since my dad was born in a logging camp there. Supposed to be off that weekend and if nothing pressing around house would like to try to come. Just need directions.

glad this is finally getting ironed out. if this is a definite go, i plan on being there plus one. its bow season here in OK that weekend so foraying out in the woods and trying to find a camp spot may be difficult. has anyone done a recon on this area? anyone close to the Edmond/OKC area will to ride down with me this weekend sometime to check it out?

Ok, google maps is a friend of mine. That is a little bit farther than we can go at this time. Our finances will not support that much go juice. Maybe before long we can set up an event in our lovely Ouachita Nat'l Forest that straddles our 2 states. An old friend of my dad that I have not seen in years has a large piece of land on the river between Muse and Honobia. If he is still alive maybe I can get in touch with him. This land, last I heard was pretty much all wilderness.

    Hey folks,

Only about two weeks to the 1st OK Bushcrafter's meeting. A couple of the people attending are bringing items, such as food and demo supplies, and need a good head count.

Please RSVP me soonest if you are attending and how many are coming with you. If you are coming with another BushcraftUSA member make a notation of who so I don't double count.

Remember we may have to carry in our own water. I will have a couple of 5 gal. water jugs there but that may not be enough. Come prepared for a primitive camp site.

I don't know about calling it a "demo" per se but I'll do some dutch oven cooking. I have a couple of D.O.'s. For a desert does anyone have a preference? I can fix a cobbler, or a pineapple upside down cake, or if someone has a another preference let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

Unfortunately I cannot say for sure until late that week; job stuff

I would like to bring my dog but fear he may be more of a distraction in a group setting

Anyone else bringing theirs? your thoughts on the subject would be appreciated

So do we have a total yet? Or at least a ballpark?

Do we want to have community meals or each person fix their own, or everyone bring something to the fire?? I'll fix up a pot of venison chili one night, maybe stew the next? Thought I'd do a little dutch oven cooking and see if I can't come up with something edible.

I'll keep my little coffee pot going while I'm around camp.

What time on Friday can/should we start getting there??

Here's the list for those attending so far: Myers.scouts +2, SDS +1, Backwoods Rick, PBCrazy, Mr. Guy, Nerual the Mad, and Hodo Lane +1. Maybes on Thomas Long, Kevin Toomey. Thats 9-11 attending.

If you are attending and don't see yourself listed let us know so SDS can bring enough chow for dinner.

I'm thinking that breakfast and lunch could be on your own.

I'll be out at the location around noon to set up so anyone can arrive afte that.

I'll bring a large grill and tripod for community cooking.

See you all weekend after next.

Don't know anything about the site so I can't answer on the hammock question. Anyone interested in throwing out a trade blanket? Not sure I have anything anyone would want but it might kill a little time while we are sitting around on Saturday.

A quick question for myers.scouts, are we going to have to pack everything in, or can we drive in and drop off and park?

Sorry to hear that lepercan, see you next time.

Hondo, I'm bringing both a tent and hammock just in case. We can spread out a little and if you can find some good trees by all means you can hang around if you want to.

The road is very rough but passable with a truck. We can drive in, unload, then drive out to park if you vehical can handle it.

Trade items would be great, I have a few flint strikers and might make a couple more before the meet.

One more to add to attendance, Fire65 is coming.

I don't think anyone is going to be legalistic about what equipment you use or don't use. It's just a fun get together. I'll be bringing a propane stove as well. If I were hiking in somewhere my gear choices would be much different but just because we are camping doesn't mean we have to be uncomfortable. :)

Woo! We're headed out tomorrow as soon as I get out of school, I can't wait. I'm bringing a few bread recipes I'm going to give a try, everyone is welcome to a taste.

I'd also like to try some "camp construction" though I don't know how well the guy owns the place would take to me building stuff... :33:

Who else is ready to get out in the bush and meet up with some new friends?? :9:

Looking forward to some great sleeping weather, should be in the 40's tomorrow night.

I'll have a pot of venison chili tomorrow night and will make a dutch oven pineapple upside down cake at some point. Might have to fix a few other things too.

I'll also see what I can round up to put out on a trade blanket in case anyone else has goodies they are interested in trading..

Looking forward to putting some faces with the names on here.

That's awesome though, I thought there was only going to be roughly 6 of us, 12 is a great number!

Well, I'm on hold......won't know until tomorrow whether I can come or not. In addition to just a little bit ago learning that I have torn ligaments and cartilage in my knee my daughter is throwing up and is curled up in a fetal position on the couch.

If she gets to feeling better I am still in and will be there. If she has to stay home tomorrow I may have to bow out. Momma won't get home until late tomorrow and my daughter can't go to school like this.

If it turns out that I can't make it is there anyone in NW OKC/Edmond area that I can meet to give the chili fixin's to?

I feel like a heel even putting things on hold like this. If I have to back out I'm going to feel like a bum.

I'll let you know as soon as I do.

Shawn, don't fell bad if you can't make it, life happens. Let us know as soon as you can so we can plan our food. If you don't make it you can cook at the next one. You can cook at the next one even if you do make to this one ;-)

Firewood won't be a problem, there is plenty of dead wood around.

Signs will be up tomarrow before noon. Look for white signs that say "BCUSA". I'll but then up about a hundred yards in each direction from the entrance and one right across the highway from it. My older son or I will be at the gate to help point the way to the campsite.

Looking foward to meeting all of you and having a great time in the OK woods.
