Really nice job so far. No chance of a metal roof?

Yes, enclosing the deer stand would make a second cabin. That thing is neat too! I love lookout towers. I have 3 sections of steel scaffolding that I want to make into a tower for the grandkids.

A little progress since my last update. Went out Saturday 1/5 with the intent of getting some more cinder blocks under the cabin. Brought a jack and strategically placed about 8 more cinder blocks under the cabin and some blocks where needed to level it out. Also, when we put the front on, we did so hastily with the intent on going back to square it as well as the door up. We were forced to do so as weather was coming in and we wanted to somewhat get it buttoned up. So we took off the front, added 2/4's where needed and moved others and got it to to the point that we were happy with it.
Our next goal was to get some tar paper on the roof and we were able to get half of it taken care of before family duties required leaving the woods. We also brought up the wood burning stove and have all of the windows that will be installed at some point being stored in the cabin. We have been very lucky with the weather here lately in the Midwest and I hope that it continues. This has been a very fun project.

I could not resist getting a staged shot of my recently acquired Serechete (@Stringer ) as well as a picture my wife @FoxLite Gear could use for her marketing of her outdoor gear.

Thanks @gohammergo ! This past Saturday it was near 50 degrees. Snow has melted though it has turned cold and windy today.

Looks great! I'm doing a very similar build on some family land. An 8 x 10 with a loft and porch overhang. Mine is progressing a lot slower, because the land is 2.5 hours away, and I'm doing most of the work by myself. My mother owns the 50 acres I'm building on, and my uncles own the other 130 surrounding acres. I'll have to post a few pictures when I have time.

    Hunt Shack.jpg
Here is mine, still under construction. 8' x 10'. I was going to continue the roof line on out for the porch, but I've decided to do a simple slant roofed porch from the bottom of the A-frame. Working by myself is to hard and dangerous without a loft to stand on to continue the roof line as is. This is going to be my "hunt shack" get away camp. It's on my mom's 50 acres which is among her 2 brothers acreage, almost 200 acres all together, that I have access to.

A few more pictures. Been spending most of the time enjoying the land and not much building. Did add a lean to for wood storage, a small table and got some roofing done recently.

Not many Iowan's know about Russian River Brewing Co. My wife's cousin owns it and we were in California visiting him a couple of weeks back and he sent me back with a bunch of swag.

Vinnie is a legend in the homebrew community. I was stoked when he released the Pliny recipe to the homebrew community. I have brewed it 4 times and am hoping to get to Santa Rosa next time I'm out in CA for work so I can compare and see what I need to tweak.
