Went out yesterday to check areas where I do some foraging. I also wanted to take a few pictures of the different flora.

It didn't take long to become a victim in a coordinated attack by both black flies and mosquitoes. They were incredibly thick and quite vicious. The worst I've encountered.

After high tailing it outta there I checked myself and removed 18 ticks.

They are on to us, my friends. They have tasted blood and are hungry for more. Be careful out there.

I had to break out the DEET last weekend got into a swarm of aggressive mosquitoes, they were heavy enough that I could feel them land on my arm.

The past two weeks have been pretty bad for ticks where I live too. I had one attach to the small of my back at my belt line - revolting!

I beat the system yesterday a mostly overcast slight breeze day completely bug and tick free sitting on the end of the dock catching a mess of white perch for a chowder supper. The only family member who ventured into the woods was our dog to do her usual PM dump and luckily for some reason tics are not attracted to her.

Mosquitos and ticks are bad here, too. I pulled a tick off my neck a couple of days ago. Thankfully it wasn't dug in very deep, hadn't been there long.

Coconut oil works well. Or you can go the chemical route Permethrin is my personal choice. Look for the Hot Shot flea and tick . Same 5% formula but less expensive than sawyer or DomC enlightened us that you can get a concentrate from farm and fleet and mix your own batches as needed. It's not worth the risk to go it unprotected , look at the new studies on tick born diseases please !!!

Ticks, and the various flying blood suckers, are way scarier than bears

I am over in Tamworth NH near Ossipee. I guess. We have a serious skeeter black flies and ticks problem here too.
