Something a little different. Combination Striker/scraper for both flint & steel and Ferro Rods.
One side has a chisel sort of grind on a section, similar to the grind on a SAK awl which is where I got the idea from, and the other is smooth for striking on flint. They don't throw the same amount of sparks as a lower alloy steel would, but they do toss some bright, hot, and thick sparks with a sharp edge on the flint. They are 5/32" thick O1 tool steel heat treated to right around 65 RC with a hole for a retention cord. If there is enough interest for these I will make a dedicated design and make more out of 1095 which with lower alloys will spark more and easier with the flint.
Going to be selling this batch for $20 shipped in the lower 48. I can blue the flats or give them a vinegar soak to help prevent corrosion at request.

These two some how became magnetized, but only to each other. Kinda like they are a couple heh.

Here we have a new model the Frontiersman. The first one was commissioned by forum member Oldsoul as a blank that he wanted to handle, he gave me the idea of a general blade shape and let me go with the design. This is what we agreed on.
this one is in 80CRV2 with black paper micarta. Also wearing a vinegar soak patina as the finish of choice. Has a full height flat/convex grind and is sharp enough to cut me even though it hasn't been sharpened yet.

Its 1/4" thick O1 tool steel. Convex ground.. It was a challenge for me to build, saw teeth took forever and I'm not entirely satisfied with them, don't think i filed them deep enough. Skeletonizing the tang took a age and a half as well, wish I was able to effectively taper tangs as that would be much easier, or had a mill to chew the metal out.
It was normalized and themral cycled to refine the grain, so far none of the abuse I've put it through has had any adverse effect on it at all.
I think If I build anymore I will make the quarter round a little less aggressive.

My first go at something like this. A mini axe pendant. Hardened and tempered O1 tool steel, Polished hemp for the necklace and attachment. The main body of the necklace is made from nice strands braided, the attachment is three strands braided together. It has two knots that allow adjustment of the necklace length. The pendant has been blued and oiled. The whole set up is pretty lightweight and should be nearly bomb proof.

I agree. Acne's may way a bit more than mine since mine is only a walnut handle rather than micarta, though his is shorter. It'll be a fun knife to use for sure.

This is a 154cm scandi ground model 2 I made a few months ago as a test knife.
Just got pictures taken of it today. It's still holding up great, I use it nearly daily in the furniture building shop I work in during the day.

A scandi ground model 5 I made and took to the TN meet up awhile back. This one is 52100 and was the first scandi grind I did in that particular steel.
It's been holding up great. with Walnut scales and a hardened 52100 pommel.

Here we have another Model 5 in 52100 scandi grind 1/8th" with Walnut scales and all stainless hardware. I'm not as happy with the stainless pommel as I have been lately with the hardened tool steel pommels, but man those are some amazing Walnut scales.
