While we regret that this must be done and the added time that it will take for new members to be approved, it is necessary at this time. We hope to have legitimate new members approved in a timely manner, no longer than a couple of hours. If the Administrators are online at the time, it can be as soon as a couple of minutes. SAVE THE DATE!!!
Come for the whole day or just a few hours. Meet your fellow CT Bushcrafters, learn a new thing or two, share your skills and knowledge, trade with fellow members, and just have a darn good time!!!

Date: October 28th, 2017 (Date pretty much set)
    Time: 0800 - 1700hrs
    Location: Peoples State Forest -

Here are the coords: (Cut and pasted from a post by @alukban)
    41.9512, -72.9954

(It is immediately past the bridge.)

Though the road leading to it is a 2-way road that has asphalt, it is realistically a single lane. It is best if folks approach from the south. There is no real parking at the site. You will have to just pull off to the side of the road where you can and you may have to hoof it a bit. That's why nobody goes there :D

It may even be prudent for folks to meet up at the parking lot at the edge/entrance of the State Forest and then carpool in.

EVENTS: classes, challenges, a trade blanket, and chow!

This might be a possibility for us for the day on Saturday. Is it just the one day or Saturday and camping for Sunday?

Hi @Pastor Chris - so far, just the one day. In CT, due to budget constraints, many of the camping areas in State park/forest system have been closed already. I will do some checking to see if there is a campground near by that might be able to accommodate a few campers.

Just curious, I would be working that Sunday so it would just be the day for me and maybe Jake.

The 28th could be doable, will keep an eye on this and check the calendar.

    Thanks, U2.

Alukban, thanks for the map. I hunted there about 30 years ago, there's probably trees where it was cleared back then!

Alright, I missed this one I guess!

At this point do we have any ideas on the extracurriculars?

@Medic17, are you able to make it?

I think bushcraft cooking should be on the agenda for sure....! Like your bean recipe @CivilizationDropout!

I would like to do some friction firework and flint and steel too!
Perhaps a little show and tell - show us your day kits or scout kits and discuss them?

    Just a few ideas.

I will make a pot of beans, short style, no 12 hour cook . Scotch Stone Scones might make an appearance as well...

I will have a challenge or two laid out, with prizes for winners.
    - Fire Walk; challenge - bring your own strikers folks, I'll bring the stone and set the course. The details will be laid out there.
    - Net Bag Build; class/challenge
    - Memory Blanket; game - this one is a maybe (yes? no?), a game of identification and memory that promotes situational awareness and recall.

I'll keep thinking of enrichment to set up/bring with.

So I said I'd do heavy lifting, but thanks to the active roles both @FIELDCRAFTLTC and @alukban have taken in the process, my otherwise hectic week and weekend stress was GREATLY reduced. Thanks boys for the legwork and coordination. Lets keep the teamwork rolling and bring this one home!

How about some land navigation classes or survival direction finding?

Also, I will supply a pork roast to cook up on the fire.

Sounds good to me, land nav with pork roast is smart. If you fail the map reading just follow your nose!

If there was pork roast on the fire I’d find my way back from anywhere for sure! It might even get me up there from NJ!

    A solid incentive!

I was wondering about that last night! If I am able to make it, I would be bringing Jake with me, so we would be in the car. He is worth the sacrifice though!

You will thus simply have to take my little moto for a spin @Pastor Chris :)

Bring at least your helmet and gloves.
