I consider myself to be very fortunate to be able to take custom knives to the woods , use them and then tell other people about. For the last several months I have been using this knife from John Deering. Like all the knives I review I have used it very hard. The Sami Puukko has built many fires, shelters, and been used for everyday tasks. The O1 tool steel has really kept an edge and has been easy to sharpen. This is a testament to the heat treat that John has applied to this fine knife. This blade also brakes from the common thinking that you need to have a thick blade for strength in the field. Coming in at a thin 3/32" the scandi ground blade makes short work of butchering and feather sticks. There was a lot of flex when I drove it into a tree and stood on it, but the knife came out unscathed. Action pics When you get a great knife like this it is easy to recommend it to other folks. If you get a chance to pick up one of John's don't hesitate.
