that just feels like it is the only knife in the world that 'gets' you?

i'm talking long walks on the beach, late night philosophical conversations under a starry sky kind of intimate soul-bonding.

    just one knife.

post it up if you do.

Just got a new sheath for my 'one' knife. It is my SET Compadre in carbon fiber.

    IMG_5037.JPG

I will include a picture of it with its new sheath once I get that squared away later today.

Mora Companion HD. It's cheap, gets the job done and just feels perfect in the hand.

My one knife was purchased many years ago at walmart. Cost around $8.00 at the time. Always in my pocket on the farm. A simple black folder. Lost that knife a couple times in the hay loft. Finding it again made my day. Have all kinds of other knives, but that one means something to me.

    Probably not just one knife.

I have perhaps two fixed blades that I keep going back to, maybe three... definitely my @BogdanS Aurochs in 10k yr old bog oak. It fits my hand intimately, and the blade length and cutting behavior is well-tuned to my style, and I have a great "feel" for how to use it. The full-flat grind modded Terava 110 is the other (shout out to @woodsranger )... and close behind that is a custom Mark Hasard piece in 1095 and desert ironwood thanks to another good friend.

Folders... I think I really have found "the one" with my Kershaw Skyline. But if not that one, then absolutely my SAK Soldier, '61 model made in '96.

Lately I'm carrying a LM Wave, the Skyline and my new Olight i3t and am quite happy with that arrangement. Not enough days in the year to carry all the tools that I feel connected to and enjoy.

you have failed at the one task you were assigned. 30 lashings, and you can go back to your cell to reflect some more.

Mine would have to be my Bark River Aurora in desert ironwood. Lately I’ve been taking a liking to my Esee 4.

    I think maybe this one:

Though truth be told, I am rather promiscuous when it comes to knife love.

My SAK Farmer comes close, but it’s more of a tool box than a knife.

I’ve got lots of knives, but they’re just something to cut something else with,,, As long as it’s sharp enough to do its job, it doesn’t really matter what it looks or feels like...

For utility my SAK huntsman, surprised how much I use it. But the one knife that gets me is my LT Wright Small Northern hunter. I bought the small and large in January, I sold off other knives and haven’t bought any since. Same happened with my SAK for pocket knives, my silky saws.... now if I could find the perfect axe...

Aw man! I guess that means heading down to my secret basement "tool room" and playing with more knives until I find which one rises to the top!

Or ... buying more in the quest to find "the one"?

A highly recommended and underrated knife. I played with mine just yesterday after forgetting about it. It's like my FFG Terävä 110, but the light-medium duty version.

It's kinda heavy, and a little bulky, and some may think she's not very attractive (well you're WRONG!! :11:), but I'm kinda partial to my newish Buck 112 Ranger drop point. My first love was the original 112, but I lost it on a hunt in the UP years ago.

    Sigh.

Opinel No8 with custom Seedy Lot M2 convex blade.

This one gets me although my hand size favors the no 9. There is just something about it that suits me. I adore Opinels in general. I don't have a picture on my phone of a customized no 9.

For me it is my beat to snot Esee 6. Goes with me everywhere and takes the abuse I throw at it and is always ready for me. Shoot. Today is used it to cut the end off an extension cord at work and then strip the ends for test some lights (all our tools got locked in a room and there was no manual fail safe for the door to get in ) no damaged to the knife, still sharp as ever!

My daily carry folder. I've had it a long time and very used to the feel, function, draw and so on. I have other knives that could fill the same role and are much sharper. But I'm just familiar with this one and it's sharp enough.

A Seedy Lot made the blade and I modded the handle myself. I sanded the handle to the profile I like then I torched it and used BLO.

I thinned the convex a bit too. It is pretty sweet.

It is a wonderful thing to have that... the heart-warming story of a boy and his knife.

I had that for years... decades even... with the Victorinox Climber.

Now, I have too many great knives to ever have that again.

Probably my BM mini-grip, had it for year, gets put through the ringer and always performs although my Orange Alox Farmer is getting to be up there as well. Just got a BM Proper for myself for my birthday last week and I am liking it as well......... Hmmm, maybe I like them all.

Hoping to have rwfred make me a fixed blade edc soon that will be exactly as you describe in the future if all goes well.
