My submission for rope and tool whipping, I found the waxed cotton string has held up better but still works it's was loose. Next time think I'll try glueing it afterwards.

Whipped the end of my ridge line. The rest of it is braided 550 cord with an eye spliced in.

Whipped a piece of rope and my fort meigs belt axe. at one point I had the whole handle whipped where the black tape is but it gave me some pretty nasty blisters, so i just do the top so i can choke up on the blade when im carving.

Elective for Bush Class Basic. I'm going to try and redo this after I wax the jute, but the whip actually turned out really nice.

Lesson: Whipping Rope and Tool Handles

It’s been a long time since I had a chance to complete a bush class. It felt good to get started again!

I used the skills from this lesson to customize a fish club with tarred bank line, and finished a rope end as well. The fish club was used all summer while salmon fishing. The handle wrap still looks brand new and worked very well to maintain a grip with wet, slippery hands.

Figured I'd try and see if I couldn't make the Survive necker a bit more comfortable to use, haven't used this skill in a while so I had some fun.

Here's my submission for whipping a tool and a rope. I really like it on the axe. If the handle is wet I like the security factor it gives me. The last thing I want is for an axe to fly out of my hand.

I tried whipping a small piece of rope, just to see if I could do it. It's a little harder than doing larger rope, but thought it might come in handy for fishing or something else that uses small braids:

Also whipped a Diehard hatchet with two kinds of 550. It also has a small psk in the handle secured with a barrel lock and piece of shock cord, just in case:

I whipped up some whippings... Four rope whips and a tool handle. The firesteel is whipped with waxed nylon and sealed with wax. The rope whips are done with hemp thread, same stuff as the rope. The rope ends and whippings are sealed with wax.

For anyone wrapping a tomahawk or ax handle... This wrap is really easy and gives even more grip.
    upload_2018-5-23_10-47-5.png

While wrapping, you just do a reverse twist to each wrap and the raised wrap develops all on it's own. When you first start it doesn't make sense or look right, but just keep wrapping and it magically appears!!

I whipped the handle of my 'hawk with jute twine, since it could always be used for tinder. Then, without any other ideas, I just whipped a loop into a piece of paracord. Hope this suffices...
