    I know what you mean. I'm lucky today in that all the stars aligned. I'm retired, it's snowing, there's too much junk in here to do anything inside and I don't feel like doing anything but goofin' off today!

    OK, I have to make a confession. I looked at the picture again and thought "hey, that does look pretty good". Then I looked at it sitting next to me, staring outside at the snow...the picture looks waaaayyy better LOL.

    The artist is the hardest one to please! We had a professional carver come in and do some bear heads and such on a log hand rail I built. He made it look so easy! That weekend I tried my hand out chainsaw carving.... now, I have built log homes, and am a good saw guy. Able to do scribing and such. :) The bear that I carved was about the most hideous thing I have ever seen. :) :) but, for some reason, everyone else seemed to like it. I haven't tried to carve since. And that's been probably 25 years ago now.

    If you don't cut yourself, have your really put in the effort it deserves?

    I'm right handed, I try not to carve spoons or much else without a nice work glove on my left hand.

    I really like your work. I have a walking staff I want to put a wood spirit on. You've inspired me to get on it.
