It will likely be wet this weekend after the snow/ice/rain this Thursday into Friday. If you can, collect some dry(ish) wood now, so you can take in some shavings or some small stuff with you. Might make the difference between fire and warmth vs. no fire at all! Good Luck. Would love to be in the woods this weekend.

    * Update: The above is for Central/Eastern PA region where I live. I noticed the post from Larry is from Woolrich, PA, which is just west of my location and will likely see more snow than my area. This will likely impact many of us along the East Coast and into the Appalachians but just in case I wanted to explain my original post. Thanks ya'll.

Keep it up, this is definitely a challenging year (with all the precip we've gotten). If you can routinely get a fire going in this weather, you should be well prepared to make fire in almost any condition. As Forest Gump would say, "Mama says that, Practice is as practice does". Or was it "Mama always said that Practice is like a box of chocolates"?

If you are going out this weekend in challenging conditions one of these emergency fire starters as demonstrated by @IA Woodsman is a great backup plan and may give you some peace of mind...
