Hey guys I found this kitten it appears to be blind and very hungry. I gave him some fancy feast and it seems to be happy and doesn't care about me talking right next to it. Here's a picture in case anyone lost him. IMG_0931.JPG IMG_0940.JPG

This is live by the way, as of 6:29pm EST.

I have not and will not handle this kit, I HAVE called a local wildlife rescuer for injured animals.

I had a brood of little ones break into my house once. Full of piss and vinegar until I grabbed their tails and picked them up. Went right into "dead" mode.

Keep him around, somebody mentioned that possums eat lots of ticks and fleas. Not sure if this is true, but if it is it will push them up several notches on my list of animals to have around....

There is a place for all creatures under the sun, I am glad to see this was not a "kill them all" post like I see on another site that will remain nameless I used to frequent.....you are owed one good turn.

One patrols under our bird feeder every night. Seems indifferent to the dog being "walked" close a couple of times a night. Just sits there and watches. Silly dog pays no attention.

I'm pretty sure we have one living under the deck .Wife leaves food and water out all the time for
Our outdoor kitty's and he helps himself .
I always wonder how he survives with three dogs running around ,not a lot of defenses

A lesson for the future learned for me here. Do not show certain photographs on BCUSA forum to friends and their 7 year old Granddaughters.... No, we can not have him sent in a parcel from America..Why? because it's a long way and those sort of kittens don't like flying anyway. :D :D

Could send him on a boat but by the time he got there he'd be all grown up and not nearly so cute .

Boat!! Ssssh..Don't even mention it..:D I'm already in trouble with her Granny for showing little Amelie the photos. Apparently there is not room for another pet, not with two Hampsters, a Guinea Pig, and a Rabbit named Hoppy....:18:

@CivilizationDropout So, did it stick around / make it through the night?

As long as they stay away from my house and my chickens, they have free run of the woods and fields.

So do my chickens. :4: They are cute also. AND they pay me in eggs for putting a roof over their head.

Like most cute things, they eventually grow up.

He wasn't out there when I went to work this morning, I think I know where he's sleeping though.

No hissing, he was pretty quiet and subdued.

I'll check around for him later, he was definitely blind in one eye he couldn't see me right in front of him.
Only reason he found the cat food is I made sure of the wind and put it up wind of him. I did that he made for it faster than I thought he could move.

Pretty skinny, let's see what happens.

planted my tomato plants the other day a full flat/36. i always cut up some fish and bury them with my plants for extra nutrients. well the next day i got up and half my plants were dug up, first thing i thought of was a coon. since he liked fish so well i put out my live trap with starkist tuna in the cage and damn if i did not catch a opposum, not sure if he was the rascal that dug up my plants but they have not been touched since i trapped him and relocated him a few miles down the road.

Not too worried about that, opossums are extremely unlikely to get rabies due to their low body temp (94*F-97*F).

Also he had a flight response from even the smallest threat.

    He's a cutie!:)

When our granddaughter was considerably younger I showed her some possum tracks in the snow, and told her they were hand prints from the little gnomes that lived in the forest around our place.;) She was enthraled! A little later when I explained they were actually possum tracks and showed her the fella that made them she wasn't too disappointed.:)

Besides, she's known for a long time that Pappy's a bit of a jokester! And both her mother and grandmother agree that her sense of humor is more like mine as well.:3:

I lived in a trailer park in college. I slept on a mattress on the floor. One night I woke up to about a 10 to 12 lb possum 2ft from my face eating the rest of my Doritos. I apparently had not finished my supper the evening before. After a short conversation it found itself in a waterproof US stuff sack. I took it to a pond I used to visit frequently. I hope it found a new home.

Thanks for posting, possums are awesome!
