I took my best friend/new hunter on his first rabbit hunt. His dad gave a him 20 gauge Springfield single shot last night. Neat looking gun!
I showed him the fine art jumping on brush piles and rabbit hunting. He seemed to enjoy it a lot more than squirrel hunting. Anyway these are the two I got and he got one as well. I'd hate to admit his hit ratio was better than mine to! We saw 6 possibly 7 this morning and left with 3. Not a bad turn out!

Nope, these are just cotton tails. I'd have to go a bit north to hunt snowshoes. I do plan on going after those soon though!

I smell a stew coming on

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Congrats! Isn't it fun taking someone new out hunting?

I've been making brush piles on our property for the last 8 years in the hopes of attracting small game (rabbits). So far, lots of song birds, but nothing else. Maybe some day.

Growing up my neighbor pushed all his fence line out 8' with a dozer. This equated to hundreds of yds of brush 6' tall 8' wide. It was like rabbit nirvana until the yote population exploded in conjunction
