if you could take any celebrity with you into the wilderness for a week, who would it be and why?
Hmm..... Well, if it was back in my single days, I can think of a list of women I would take.....
Dudes? Just about any of those prissy looking boys who have done bad ass action movies. I would guess in most cases they would cry like a new born baby when a pack of coyotes lit up 50 yards from camp.
But honestly, NONE! Not a single one! Them folks in Follywood can hold my beer, because we are not your kind!
Now if celebrity means some of the guys and gals keeping things real about bushcraft or back woods camping on you tube, I could name a few that I think it would cool to set up camp and have a night around the fire talking with.
Heck! There are more folks right here on this site I would love to meet and get a trip in with then anyone in Follywood. I may not be as skilled or be able to keep up with many of you, but I sure would try and have a blast doing so.
She wouldn't have to do much! But sure would keep my enthusiasm way up.
Taylor Swift...call it an intervention / deprogramming session lol...
The late Macho Man Randy Savage. I have a feeling there was so much cocaine running through him you could hold a tinder bundle close to him and it would just ignite (As long as you didnt get it all greasy)
Nope. Can't think of a single celebrity I'd want tagging along. Can you imagine having to listen to all that mindless, self-effacing drivel, while you're trying to enjoy your dirt time?
Gordon Ramsey...... His sarcastic humor and decent cooking could come in handy.
Morgan Freeman... to narrate my bushcrafting.
“He then blew on the tinder bundle, causing his birds nest to burst into flames...”
-Snake Doc 415
I'd shoot myself, in the foot, first.
Morgan Freeman would narrate that also.
Tough decision. . . Ginger? Or Mary Ann?
Ahhhhh......a Hollywood star... Don't sell them too short folks, they are people after all. Some of them might be shiny, happy, plastic people, but they are people.
How about Robyn Williams? I'd have liked to spend a few days with him. See what he was really like behind the jokes.
Thinking of someone else that would be interesting to chat with..... It would have to be someone that seemed to have a sense of humor, but with a serious side too. There are of course some leading ladies who would be welcome in camp, for some conversation. I have met a few people who were in the entertainment industry and they weren't quite the way they " put it out there".
Now, if I could pick anyone on this forum.
@MrFixIt , and @ReallyBigMonkey1 would be my top two picks.
I heard that John Voight, Burt Reynolds, and Ned Beatty were fun to take on camping trips.
On a more serious side, I can't think of too many these days. But if the OP is willing to entertain celebrities from the past, I would. . .
. . . want to sit around the fire in the four corners region with Louis L'Amour,
. . . go fishing with Ernest Hemingway
. . . sit on the African plains with Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Robert Ruark.
No question. Sylvester Stallone. Word has it he's a total bad ass in real life. It would be cool to camp with a real Rambo
I would also add this @Primordial guy as someone real interesting to explore some woods with.
Oh and I have been dying to meet my long time buddy @Zunga for some woods time.
Also on the West Coast is my friend @blue333 who I would love abduct back east for a while.
If you want to camp with a Rambo, come to the Northwood and camp with @Primordial ! He even has a Rambo knife.
Oh.....wait a minute....maybe it was a rainbow knife I was thinking about....
Different thing, never mind.
Of those now alive, none.
None of them would be worth the aggravation .
Mentally, morally, politically they just do not want an old red neck deplorable cop from flyover country on their shiny imaginary world. And I don't want any part of theirs.
Amen to that.
Robert Redford, so I could teach him how to make a fire with flint and steel.
There are quite a few members I wouldn't mind spending some dirt time with.
Got my own quirky reasons for putting those two jokers at the top of the " list".
Another one would be @NevadaBlue . Grouchy old coot that he is
¿ may i add Larry McMurtry to listen to by the camp fire ?
and add Ernest Thompson Seton for his Wood Lore expertise
Consider both. They're on sale.
That depends... do they have to make it out in the end?
If authors count, then Brandon Sanderson. If not.................maybe John McAfee? Just to hear some stories.
I'm not a celebrity.
Although I have been "infamous"...
That guy would be a riot to be around.
Hollywood celebrities:. Can't think of any specifically but I've seen a few articles in the past that make me think there are some cool people in the bunch.
Mike Rowe would be a cool dude to hang with.
Quite a few people here. If I could absorb even 1/10 the knowledge and skill some of you possess...
....until you burn the ******* toast.
I guess maybe just being alone might not be so bad...
I'd go by a lake and take Bill Dance or Hank Parker.
Joe Rogan, he would bring some great party favors and he can hold a conversation.
Mike Rowe may be similarly conversationally gifted.
Les Stroud, Cody Lundin although I think Les would be more pleasant based upon screen personality.
Other than that I dont know enough about any of them to make a choice, characters portrayed, products endorsed etc do not tell.me who they are as a person.
Oh, wait. Did they say FAMOUS ?
Guess you've been edged out by @NevadaBlue , and the monkey.
---> Dreams squashed!
Another vote for Mike Rowe or Joe Rogan.
Red Green would be hilarious as well.
How about the MacKenzie brothers?
Well I’ve been teasing my kids & wife that I’m going to go on a vacation without them lol!
They said, if I left without them they would start to sell my knives! Eeeeek! Lol!
I didn't want to name names from here because most of the people who post on a regular basis sound like they would be great to learn a thing or 20 from, and just seem down to earth. I will say though, that a camp with @ReallyBigMonkey1 would be a hell of a fun trip. His attitude and demeanor are just flat out down to earth, silly, and knowledgeable. Get a group of us together and get some filming in, start the whole thing with a huge chorus of "Hey Everybody".
It's okay, they could sell one knife per week and I bet you would have plenty left!
That said, there are lots of reasons for me to get out west to Cali...... sometime..... maybe when it is not hot there anymore?
The bearded guy that does TA Outdoors channel on YouTube. His dad has TA Fishing and seems pretty fun too, they appear on each other's channels all the time.
Well my friend, If you ever make it out this way, there’s a ton of different stuff to do & see!
No celebritys, but if I wanted to smile the whole trip I would take @Teeps and his buddy
Most of the people I might have wanted to spend any time with are gone now. The first adults who treated me like an adult were “Sonny” and “Newt” a couple of my dad’s hunting friends. Sadly they were pretty old when I first met them and by the time I was of hunting age they had given it up, but I did fish with them a fair amount.
“If there’s a rock and roll heaven well you know that got a hell of a band”. And if there is a happy hunting ground you can bet those two are raining hell on the animals there.
I think Nick Offerman would be fun to hang out with.
Mine have all passed. Price,Lorre,Karloff. Imagine the campfire stories....
