No celebs for me, unless we're using them for food, in which case I want a plump one. I'm just imagining the conversation as we walk into the woods...

    Celeb: "I'm scared!"

Me: "You're scared??? Just imagine how I feel. Hell, I'm gonna have to walk out of here by myself."

Ray Mears, Jack Absalom, Les Hiddins, B**r Gr**ls, or, if people from the past count, Ernest Thompson Seton. Seton would be fascinating to hang around!

Clint Eastwood would say "I know what your thinking did I eat 5 hotdogs or 6, well to tell you the truth in all the excitement I forgot myself"

I agree that just about everyone I would want to bring has passed already. Two that haven't been mentioned yet that I would want to bring are Peter Freuchen and Ernest Shackleton. The stories they could tell would be amazing, and they could definitely hold their own, and I feel like I would learn a lot.

    Is my humor too highbrow?

    I posted a BeeGee's video. Get it? Bee Gee....BG? Get it?:22:

Of course, it was a great big, fat, lie......just an excuse to post a BeeGee's video to annoy everybody. :16:

Of course there is always a chance we could become separated at some point and I would have to hike out alone to "eventually" call for help.

Grandpa Jones, Teddy Roosevelt and Festus Hagan. Those three would be a hoot and while I know Festus was a character on TV Ken Curtis was known to be a a great guy and well liked for his down to earth humor and stories.....there was a bit of real Festus in him. TR and Grandpa Jones, who wouldn't like some camp time with them. I saw a few others would enjoy some campfire time with TR......only people who are an excellent judge of character who would say that if I do say so myself.

My Grandpa when he was healthy, Elmer Keith, Maybe Louis Lamour, or Theodore S. Can Dyke. Don't too much care for actors, but writers? Yeah I'd camp with those guys.

I'd also cook with Ramsey, just to hear him yell cunt while trying to get a fire going. He likes cooking outside too, so we wouldn't starve.

Easy question to answer. My previous career was in the entertainment industry where I met many many celebrities. One of them has been the clear stand out. Jon Stewart. I had the pleasure of hanging out with him for hours one day. Easily one of the highlights of my career/life. Beyond being incredibly kind and hilarious, we had a lot in common. From our favorite cinematographers to our love of Tom Waits.

I would gladly spend a weekend with him around a camp fire.

Too many glitter chiggers in country music.
Too many political biased idiots in Hollywood.
Too many sponsor sponges on the outdoor channels.

But if I had to choose I’d pick...
    Danielle from American Pickers.
Emma Stone or Scarlet Johansson would be second and third choices.

I can’t believe nobody has named PHIL ROBERTSON yet!
I think he’d be a hoot to have in camp for a week!

Matt Graham, Dave Canterbury, and some of the guys from the shows they’ve been on would probably be cool choices as well, thought Id mention them as they all haven’t been named yet either.

Probably none. Maybe Harrison Ford or Kevin Kostner if we can pretend they weren't in movies and just be real and see who they are on the other side.
    Clint Eastwood or John Wayne.

But probably none because none of them really have my respect at all.

Well if we are allowing past persons as well I would say, Edward Abbey we dont agree on politics but the man could tell a story. Hunter Thompson, but it would have to be the 20 year old version of me, this version can't handle the appetites. Mark Twain would be interesting, again for the story telling and conversation.
So many great minds have passed, leaving behind one half of a roaring conversation, encapsulated between the covers of a good book.

Definitely Bear Grylls. Not for his "survival" skills, but for his story telling. Dude has done some pretty amazing things in his life, and generally seems like a decent guy.

After serious thought I cannot think of a famous person I'd like to meet, let alone head out camping with. Nada. Zilch.

Now, there are many on this forum I hope to do so with over time, folks who seem grounded, mostly sane (or at least sane once in awhile), and knowledgeable. I'd hope to learn a thing or two along the way.

Elon Musk has accomplished some interesting things. I would like to hear his version of the future.

Oh, I don't know. Chris Pratt might be up for it. His brother is a dep. Also, did you know that he owned the very same 45-70 lever gun he used in Jurassic World? Before he was cast in the movie?

For me, I'd say Kurt Russell. An interesting dude who's been acting since he was a kid but is somewhat apart from the Hollywood garbage. Sort of bridges old Hollywood and new. I'm sure he's got a crap-ton of neat stories.

It would be a toss up between Sean Pen and Michael Moore, but only one of us is coming out of the woods.....

    No celebs for me.

There was guy in town who rode the rails during the depression and did some time working with the CCC, he had some stories to tell. Another was a guy who trapped for years in the Yukon and Alaska until he lost a leg due to frostbite and then became a fur buyer . My other choice was a guy I met in high school who after his service in Viet Nam kind of went off the grid and became a sort of hippie. He had some serious skills when it came to bushcraft and tracking critters.
