Hey Everyone, Wifey & I decided last week to take a few days off & explore a few new potential camping areas ( Western Sierra's ).

We are primarily " Car / RV Campers ".

After setting up a base camp. We use our Tow vehicle to explore.

We stopped @ Shaver Lake for a night stay & drove to " Wishon Reservoir / Upper Kings River " the following day.

I was completely unfamiliar with the area & after visiting Wishon Reservoir, I pulled off the main highway and drove down into a very nice Rest stop, along the Upper Kings River ( Base of Wishon Dam ).

We had packed " Fishing Gear ", but decided to have lunch & enjoy the scenery :14:

We'll it started to get late & I didn't want to drive down the very windy roads, back to Shaver Lake, in the dark. :30: :30:

When we arrived home.. I started thinking about getting myself a small portable Cooking Stove, to pack/leave inside of our Car.

A small portable Stove would be very handy for a quick " Fresh Fish Pan Fry / Hot Soup / Hot Coffee or Tea / etc.". It had to be a " Butane / Propane " stove. Lots of areas in " CA " don't allow open Fires or Charcoal Grills.

    I already have " (2) Coleman Double Burner Stoves " ( Liquid Fuel ).

After looking @ lots of " You Tube " Product reviews.

I ended up ordering the " Gas One " unit.

    Gas One
12,000 BTU Portable Butane and Propane Camp Stove

    https://gasone.com/collections/camping/products/gs-4000p-portable-dual-fuel-stove

    And a REDCAMP Folding Windscreen.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HF51VMV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also ordered a small " 11 Pound Propane Tank " and a Hose Adapter.

    Propane Tank
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KOLF1IQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Hose Adapter
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073KV4WLJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    P.S.: I'm always considering equipment for use: " Earthquake / Catastrophic Disaster ". :3:

UPDATE: I'm sorting thru my inventory for items to use with the small stove.

Keep in mind,, All of these items will stay inside of my Vehicle, to utilize while we are in the field, exploring areas away from base camp.

We might spend the night ( 1 ) sleeping in our Vehicle: Due to unforeseen Back Country Roads Closure? ( Vehicle Accidents / Bad Weather / Fires / Earthquakes / Land Slides, etc ).

Or we just decided to avoid a long drive back to base camp??

I always carry a Backup Two-person Tent / Sleeping Bags / & Ice Chest with Cold Drinks 24/7.

    UPDATE:

I've been pondering over a few gadgets that might be useful with my " 24/7 " Small one Burner Stove ( Car Stove ).

I enjoy Fishing, & normally practice " Catch & Release "..Unfortunately, a few fish won't Survive. I'll immediately place them in my Ice Chest to be cleaned later, & use it: Fried / Grilled / Poached ".

I started perusing " Amazon " for a small pot, which I'm still waiting for its delivery. I also saw a few " Stove Top Smokers " listed. After reading a few of the reviews on the different models, I ordered the below.

    " Camerons Mini Stovetop Smoker " (7" x 11" x 3.5")

Wifey's not a big fan of Smoked Meats. So, I'll most likely use it to " Steam / Roast / Poach / Stovetop Oven ".

    UPDATE:

I just received two more packages in the mail.

KITCHEN SENSE TRADITIONAL COLUMBIAN CAST ALUMINUM CALDERO...- STOCK POT
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J9KMFKX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    3.7 Quarts

Wifey was very familiar with how to use the " Caldero Stock Pot ". :dblthumb:

The second package contained a " Stove Top Camp Oven ".. I've been pondering over getting a " Coleman Camp Oven " for a few years. Lots of positive " You Tube " reviews.

    https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000016462-Camp-Oven/dp/B0009PURJA/ref=sr_1_1?crid=393AQUI0ZF9RL&keywords=coleman+oven+for+camp+stove&qid=1566013843&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=Coleman+Oven+,sporting,241&sr=1-1

I ended up ordering the "
Winnerwell Fastfold Oven | Portable Camp Oven for Wood Burning Stoves and Camp Stoves " ( Stainless Steel )
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0792V24QC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Unfortunately., I wasn't able to find much info/reviews..My best guess, it was due to the much higher cost $$$, compare to the Aluminum Coleman.

    Heres a brief overview.

I was able to squeeze / angle the stockpot thru the front door.

Two-wire grates were included & two Shelves Heights
    [IMG]

The bottom has a Screen that latches on with indented tabs.

I might use an aftermarket Oven Thermometer ??

Botton view of Stainless Steel Screen. ( I had it on Backwards :56: )

When unfolded, the latches hold it together.

It appears to be very well made. However, there were " NO Directions " for assembly or How to best use Tips... :56:

I'm going to have to play with the " Winnerwell Oven " @ home to figure out how well it works on a Propane Burner Stove .. :33: :33:

    UPDATE:

I had planned on doing a bit of testing with the " Winner Oven "... However, wifeys relatives dropped by & I had to cut my project short.

    Heres a few more photos.

The Smoker pan will fit inside the Winnerwell Oven ", But, it won't fit thru the front door.

So, I'll have to load it from the Top.

A brief tutorial on how to properly " Fold " the stove for Storage / Transportation.

Sides fold in, on top of each other.

Front Folds-down next. I lined the insides with double-layered paper towels, to protect the Glass.

Make sure the door latch is not engaged to close flat.

The Back panel folded on top.
I also lined the top of the Glass & Thermometer with Paper Towels.

Top Panel & Wire trays tucked inside of the recess.
I placed another double layer of paper towels on top to prevent scratching of the panels.

Pressed down firmly & tighten up with nylon belt included wth the Oven.

I'm going to use the original delivery box for storage & transportation.

I'm waiting for delivery of a smaller " ALUMINUM CALDERO - Stock Pot " (1.8 Quarts).

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J69MSR7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'll use the larger pot for my Trailer base Camp. :4:

I also ordered a Pizza Stone ( Bake Bread / Croissants, etc..? )
    Waykea 10” x 10.4” Pizza Stone
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FBF7BP3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FBF7BP3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not completely sure if I'm going add the Oven & Pizza Stone to my " 24/7 " Car Cooking Kit :33: :33:

But, it will certainly be added to my RV Base Camp :3:

I had initially considered stocking my " Small Stove", along with some basic Cooking Utensils for an overnighter or two, using a Plastic Storage Container. I also wanted a small folding Aluminum Table to Cook on.

Hmmm, I ordered the below, as a dual purpose item.

    Camp Chef Sherpa Table
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DTEM2U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    1. The Red Bag ( With Blue Bag inside ) on the Counter, contains two Small Propane Bottles / Pam Cooking Spray(s) & will be carried separately.

    2. My GSI Kitchen Kit.

    3. Green Bag contains my " Berkey Go " Wate Filter / Stanley Growler for Water Storage.

    4. Yellow Bag contains Camp Kettle / Coffee-Tea French Press / Two Coffee Tumblers.

    5. Red Bag contains Stovetop Smoker Pan & Skillet with lid, Red Silicone Trivet.

    6. Gas One Single Burner & Case Fits :4:

The table has a zippered rear accessories pouch, which is a convenient area to hold a propane tank, while in use.

A photo comparison of a plastic storage container, I had planned to use.
The Table Legs can be shortened for easier transportation.

P.S.: Wifey has decided to requisition the " Aluminum Caldero Stock Pot " for her Kitchen

    UPDATE:

I just ordered a "Rival Crock-Pot Bread'n Cake Bake Pan " from E-Bay. & will be waiting for its delivery.

I plan to do a bit of experimenting with the " Winnerwell Oven ".

I've also ordered some " Insulation Mineral Wool " to test the Winnerwell Oven performance, with & without the Insulation. :33: :33:

    https://www.amazon.com/3M-Temperature-Stainless-Acrylic-Adhesive/dp/B075V51FW6/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3VKU3SID1DJF2&keywords=stainless+steel+tape+1+inch&qid=1566530682&s=gateway&sprefix=Stainless+Steel+Tape+,aps,198&sr=8-5

    Insulation, Wool, 0 to 1200 Degrees F
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LZI4T1U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The Insulation material was a bit too thick ( 1 inch ). So I cut the pieces in half ( 1/2 ).

I wrapped all of the Mineral Wool Insulations panels with a Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil.

I used " High Temp Stainless Steel Tape ", to hold the pieces/panels in place.

    https://www.amazon.com/3M-Temperature-Stainless-Acrylic-Adhesive/dp/B075V51FW6/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3VKU3SID1DJF2&keywords=stainless+steel+tape+1+inch&qid=1566530682&s=gateway&sprefix=Stainless+Steel+Tape+,aps,198&sr=8-5

    Folded up for future testing.

P.S.: I'll be starting another thread on " TESTING " Equipment sooooon :3:
