This is a challenge to the Men and Women of ACTION, as well as any who aspire to join the ranks.

    IMG_2955.JPG

Get outside for something. Honestly we shouldn't care a lick if it's a few minutes to practice a skill or a week to weekend of joyous bushcraft.

Not that many of you who read this will need the kick or incentive, but I feel this; @Wolfcri's brainchild of the Men Of Action is a collective of doers and motivated women and men who DO have a need to get out. As a matter of character and desire.
We get dirty and suffer the inconvenience (or opportunity) of getting out and compromising ourselves, our gear, our fears, our comfort and our complacency for the sake of action.

I am not perfect in this regard, I feel that I am behind on obligations that other MOA and the forum as a whole may forgive, but I cannot. I promise to put energy and action towards these shortcomings that my own perception of life has imposed; in my own efforts to get back outside.

The first reward for this challenge is a satisfaction in the violence of action, the just sleep of an effort put forth and the gratitude and peace of mind that comes from fighting inaction and such.

A secondary award will be determined by my 33rd rotation of the sun, October 13, 2019.

(I reserve the right to choose as few or many awarded individuals as I please. All I ask you get some and show us here.)

Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Civilians; MEN OF ACTION. (in NO particular order), I say; "GET BACK OUTSIDE". I look forward to any response, in fact I relish it.

Note: it was brought to my attention that some posts in the social groups don't see a reference or refresh on the recent post board. This challenge is being double posted from its original here, so that the forum at large may play along and get some action.

I would get outside but it is hot. I have bad allergies. Oh and there are bugs. :D

On a serious note...... Plan on practicing some fire building tomorrow in my backyard and practice more on some town land this weekend. :)

I get out often as is but I really need to get better at taking pictures...... I AM working on that though. ;)

Get outside, even if it means finding a tree to sit under while eating your bag lunch beside a basketball court on garbage day in the rain! :)

My grandson and I camp once a month without fail, rain, shine, snow . Had our May trip this past weekend . Haven’t posted pics yet . Last couple I have started doing Bushclass stuff on the trips. Got one done this last trip and a couple the trip before . Meant to do 2 this trip but forgot the flour and baking soda for bannock . Oh well, I’ll knock it out in June . Already have June and July trips scheduled and spots reserved.

That's such an important point. I know for me, that after a hard week I'm not always feeling like leaving the house (especially in the summer). But I know my sanity needs me to go do something and try something, or I get into an existential funk. So I grit my teeth and gear up, and I'm (usually) happier in the end.Good thread.

I need/want to get outside so badly... it's an urging you can't control... like a dog at the back door pining to run after the squirrel in the backyard. Gotta go! Gotta do it!

Alas, family and work obligations reduce my ability in such a way that it pains me.. I feel genuinely sad about it at times. I instead get outside and do whatever I can. Even if it's just tending my vegetable garden, cleaning up the wood pile, or going out to appreciate the trees and flowers in my yard. Too much inside.. too much technology, too much modernity ... I feel like I lose my humanity.

MOA... perhaps a member someday. I envy the outings that members post about. Someday I'll get back to how it used to be in my life, when every weekend was the chance for adventure!

In the meantime, every little thing you do that gets you outside is a good thing, a thing to be cherished and time not wasted.

I'll be out today mowing the yard!
They're calling for rain and thunderstorms, but I'll be out there!
Do they make a Yak Attack GoPro mount for a Kubota zero-turn? ;)

I've got a personal goal to get out AT LEAST every other week with my son this summer. We were out this last Saturday for a squirrel hunt. Didn't see any squirrels, but I did have a hummingbird about 5 feet from my face!

Y'all should check out this really cool subforum called Outings, Trips & Expeditions members of the forum post pictures, videos, and writings about their time outside. And here's the crazy part, it goes largely unnoticed.

Here's a couple of highlights from this year's trips so far.

As soon as I get over this pneumonia or whatever the heck it is, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be getting back out. For now my yard will have to do.

I've been getting out nearly every weekend since this past October. This last one though I had to stay in town and take it easy because of a hurt knee. Yesterday at work I was like an animal in a cage. Pacing back and forth at the window looking for a way out. Tonight I'm having the hammock in the back yard just so I can survive until the weekend and get a proper reset.

I'm stuck at home this morning, and there are thunderstorms approaching and looking to settle in this afternoon. Sometimes, you just have to do what you have to do, so I made my breakfast in the backyard after getting the kiddos off to school. It's totally dorky and I'm totally ok with that! :D

There must be coffee!! It's raining and I was hungry so there was no messing around today so: Pathfinder alcohol stove started with my mini blow torch. :D

    P6059984.JPG

Followed by bacon and hashbrowns in my trusty cast iron skillet. These were both pre-cooked, just to the edge of doneness, so I only needed to crisp them up.

    P6059991.JPG

Then a couple of farm fresh eggs. I missed a little bit of shell when I cracked them. DOH! That's roughin it! ;)

    P6059993.JPG

Finished off with some S&P, garlic & onion power, and Sriracha.

    P6059996.JPG
    P6050002.JPG

The eggs weren't quite done in the middle when the bacon and potatoes were ready, so I took the pan off the heat, flipped them, and let the residual heat finish the cooking. It was SO GOOD, especially the crispy hashbrowns. YUM!!!

I posted a couple of trips there . The first ones were well received . The next 2 got no notice they even existed . Zero . So after the second invisible one I quit posting there and post trip reports exclusively in the Roughians group now . The MOA guys might not see them there , but oh well .

I don't blame you, but ask that you join me in reading and commenting on trip reports. We've got enough discussion on the "what edge tool" threads. We need more in the trip reports.

I get out at least once a week, even if for no more then to hang out down by the creek. Got out on Memorial day weekend for a hike with a buddy, I will post the short video below.

Last weekend was work on the garden.

This weekend is car camping with the wife and our dog, which I will be using some bushcraft skills on that trip. Instead of the Bic, will be starting fire with the ferro rod. Sunday slow cooking a rack of pork ribs all day low and slow over coals. I might get a hike in, have to see what time we get there and set up Saturday. Break camp and head home Monday morning.

Next weekend is the Bass opener, so I will be out trying for some smallies and large mouths.

The following weekend is a hike with some friends in a near by area and check out a cave or two.

The last weekend of the month is now up in the air, but I have a Plan B already set up if that trip doesn't work out.

I forget to take pics often, when I do I end up taking to many. I forget to shoot video often as well, I start out intending to take pics and get footage, then get caught up in what I'm doing and forget.

Nothing bushcrafty but I work outside and about to head out on a bike ride. I committed to my wife 3 rides a week of at least 8 miles each. I just finished adding storage to my knife rack (running up stairs to the garage for the miter saw and back downstairs to the rack). Maybe I will try some F&S later.

    Been practicing with natural tinder.

My recent go to has been punk wood. Seems to smolder and catch a spark better than most options....

Part of the reason why I started camping in the backyard, just to get outside more.

This weekend my daughter's high school graduation gathering takes precedence but I am due for an actual away from the house camping trip in the next few weeks. In the meantime I'll probably be back in the yard next weekend if I don't go anywhere else.

Enjoyed some time yesterday afternoon in my GFs backyard. There's a bench swing and some chairs under a dogwood tree and a hummingbird feeder nearby. It isn't full on woods but enough trees to count. Sunshine with some wind at times. It was a great afternoon watching the hummingbirds, robins, cardinals and other birds. Squirrels, bunnies, butterflies and dragonflies were out and about also. All in all a relaxing time.

This is a pet peeve of mine... and a problem for me.

I find it very amusing, and annoying, to see someone participating in an activity or event, only to be seeing it through the screen on their phone. They get so wrapped up in pics or video that they are not living the experience.

When I'm out doing something, I get wrapped up in what I'm doing and only think of taking pictures after the fact.

I guess I need someone to follow me around with a camera to get all of the good stuff!

Nah... I'd have to kick my own @$$ if I became one of THOSE people  :D

Something that helped me remember to take pictures was taking a single shot, of anything, right off the hop. Your feet as you get out of the car. Something, it will get you in the mindset to document without making it intrusive to your adventures.

    Mod footwear :D

I find taking pics of things I do on a regular basis, like cooking, pretty easy. It's like adding another step that falls into place.
But yesterday, lacking my new GoPro and having to rely on swiping a screen with wet hands to take a pic, plus accessing said smart phone from a tucked away position in the kayak, well, it resulted in no pics, even though I didn't know it at the time. And it did intrude on my fishing experience.

But once I've done it a few times it will be second nature. And for a recluse like me, a way to share like adventures on my favorite forum.
