he's definitely pretty fit; he's well on his way (he's at 550-ish currently) to another 1000 trail mile year :)

I made that post 3 years ago but I still agree that gardening is a great healthy activity. Little did I know at the time that the original thread would get merged with another and become the mega workout thread lol...leaving my strange gardening comment at the beginning as a WTF :D

    Greetings,

    10 km walking today.

This past week I was doing a lot of hiking on a daily basis, between 5-10 miles per day, with a lot of weight on my back, adding a lot of wood sawing and splitting for my campfire. I was on my trip to Scotland.

Just a teaser here, full report and thread when I finish editing photos and videos I took while there.

@mtwarden apologies, as I'm sure youve said it before, but what are you using to track distance and elevation?

I use gaiagps to ground truth my routes, but then I use a workout/mapping app from runningahead.com

you simply trace your route and it plots a elevation profile, I name that route and then anytime I run/hike one of those routes I can select it from a drop down menu- it saves the workout automatically importing distance, etc

if it's a brand new route, I use gaiagps when doing the first time and then "trace" it on this app, I've never had any issue with them deviating much

    Impressive stuff fellas!

Today was laundry day so I decided to fill up the basket with 30-ish pounds of clothing and do runs up/down the stairs in my house. I went about 30 minutes up and down fast.

Anyone else try unconventional workouts like that?

    Awesome, thanks!

@M.Hatfield that's great! It seems like when I try to get creative I end up hurting myself, lol. I like the idea, though. I'll try to come up with something.

Goblet squats, curls, CoC grippers, and fan bike. I'm back doing the Keto diet and already down 5 pounds.

The power rack is back in parts for painting upgrades.

    Greetings,

    9.5 km walking today.

I would have liked to start again on my abs, weights routine and/or running, but I will have to abstain for 3 more days, as i went for a minor surgery today, taking out a wart on my left foot and advised to wait for 3/4 days before putting pressure on it.

    Regards,

    Christos

2 miles at the local preserve with wife and puppy. Only 5 ticks today, all dog ticks. Maybe 5-600 feet of elevation gain.

5 days in on Keto and I'm down 9 pounds. From the looks this run is the fasted drop in weight I've ever had. I'm just under my weight trend-line for the last year and a half. The next 25 pounds getting off will take much more dedication.
:D I let my self go wild food wise before starting Keto again.

For the thread:Goblet squats, curls both curl bar and dumbell, CoC grippers, and 20 minutes fan bike done before my normal wake up alarm went off this morning.

Yesterday was a much needed rest day, which I then ruined with an unhealthy dinner, lack of protein, too much beer, and almost no water. Dumb, but there you go.

    Warm-up
    Jumping rope skill focused
    Warm-up for rows
    3 x 12+ single arm KB rows 60lb
    3 x 12 upright rows 60lb
1 x 12 30lb KB swings just to see if I was recovered enough. Seems OK.
1 x 10 60lb KB swings, felt OK. Not gonna push my luck.
    Curls
    Even braved a few situps

did six rounds of 24 walking lunges, 24 air squats and 24 pushups; if it looks familiar it's Laredo w/o the running- by hook or by crook, I'm doing the full workout this month!

Driving myself insane with the jump rope. I don't want to buy another but this one is a real POS and getting worse. Ive broken it twice and fixed it, now the wire itself is taking permanent bends from hitting the ground. I cant get 50 jumps without it catching my feet and its turning me into a monster LOL.

    Warm-up
    6 x jumping rope 2 min, DB bench x 12+ (55/55/60/60/60/60lb)
1 x 1 OHP 60lb DBs, to see if I could. Felt very close to max.
Attempted superset no rest of pushups + dips, 10/9/8/7/6/5/4..failed halfway through four on pushups. Completed after rest.
    3 x 12 DB shrugs slow 60lb
    2 x 45 seconds heavy bag

I need to catch up on this thread. Wow! You guys are inspiring!

You all have motivated me to start doing power hill hikes. We've got some good sized hills around here. There are well groomed trails that make for a really good work-out for an aching body. My arthritis has really been bothering me lately so I'm not off-roading for the foreseeable future. :(

I had a great one this week, with a bagged lunch and some time spent in the hammock before I turned around. 'm going to try to go for one of these walks every week. Thanks again, guys. :)

Started the day with, goblet squats, curls both curl bar and dumbell, CoC grippers, and 20 minutes fan bike. Went up a little with weight hampering my record week rate. Gotta live a little too. Newest food tried this week was bagged "riced cauliflower". Out if all the ways prepared I liked pan cooked in olive oil the best.

Riced cauliflower is awesome! The first time I had it in a stir fry I didn't realize it wasn't rice.

Kudos to all of you. I really need to start focusing on fitness as I often struggle with endurance and energy.

When I was younger I used to have aspirations of a rock hard six pack and big biceps. That never materialized.

Now I would be perfectly satisfied with getting under 200 lbs (I'm somewhere around 230 last time I checked) and just having the endurance to hike some decent hills without it beating me up like it does now.

    Warmup
    3 x 60 sec jump rope + 12 bodyweight squats
5 min jumping rope nonstop except for a few mistakes. Goal is 15 min eventually, this is big progress though.
3 x 5 DB bench. 50/60/70lb Dbs. Solid rest between sets.
    2 x 6/9 DB bench 80lb
    2 x superset 12 40lbs front rause, 12 bench dips, 12 pushups
    2 min jump rope

@McKBrew the great thing is that hiking decent hills and getting beat up is all you gotta do to hike decent hills without getting beat up :) just ask @mtwarden !

    @bacpacjac that's a bummer, heal up quick!

Some of the things that help me...

    *Diet diet diet, unfortunately lol.
*Find out If you are allergic or intolerant to any foods. This can be mild to wild, and you might be surprised.
*Wear a backpack, whatever weight you like and just go about your daily routine.

    Greetings,

3.11 miles running today, with a new twist that I like and will include in the weekly routine, not on every run though.

    20190618_094535.jpg

No special reason, just curious., I decided to run with a couple of my wife's hand weights. Definitely makes for a slower pace, yet I think i like it a lot, variation-wise.

15/06 3.12 miles running and 15 km walking.
    16/06 9 km walking.
    17/06 9.5 km walking.

This is a very deep and profound statement. :35: :dblthumb:

+ 1! How does it feel today?

@Park Swan and @Quinlan, thanks. I've rested it the last few days and it feels a bit better today, thanks. A good night sleep last night, finally. That makes such a big difference.

@McKBrew, you can do it!! :D

Brisk 5 mile bike to the post office and back. Some hills. Man, the difference between my gravel bike and road bike is ridiculous. You can feel the resistance in the knobby tires with every pedal, even on the flats.

An average man's stride is 30 inches, and a small dog's is maybe 6 inches, so that's a maximum of 10,560 steps for you, but a minimum of 52,800 steps for Little E!

    Go dog! :18:

Goblet squats, kettlebell OHP, curls both curl bar and dumbell, CoC grippers, and 25 minutes fan bike. I go in for a physical tomorrow and lab work. I'm really interested to see if things have changed.

Huh. You just described my workout regimen real well.

Been doing loads of short hikes with my Butt-pack setup too. Been over loading it with about 20 pounds of weight.

In fact, in a few minutes I am off to do another hike! :D
