Me too! So refreshing.
Join the Marine Corps!
I should have, I'm too old and fat now. Semper Fi!
Evening pocket dump...
3V Polaris kicked butt this morning in the -50°F wind for some fire prep.
Feathers were lit with just a firesteel.
Kubo II doing some work on the trapline this week. Wolverines have a huge range; when and if they come by, we're ready...weird wx this yr, 30's and mild/dry for January. WTH? Creeks all opened up, lake ice thin and dangerous...Warmest Jan. I have seen in 25 Ak yrs.
Weighing in options...
Just so Jarrod doesn't feel alone, I'll put these here as well. Profile and thickness pics show this beast off...
I need to do a family pic. They are spread out so i use them every day its hard to get all together. Plus my cell phonenis busted.
Chopping challenge. 8 strokes. Im sure knife is better than this but i need work. Honed to shaving with 3000 grit auto body pad
Cool little addition. Handles by scott, i think black linen? Came with leather sheath and fire steel.
Got to play with Polaris for the first time today after work. Took it outback to make some smaller pieces of the bigger pieces the BBT created yesterday, in prep for the fire pit this weekend. As expected, it was a joy to use! Next, it got a work out in the kitchen on produce prep for the pork tacos I made tonight. Didn't miss a beat pretending to be an indoor knife.
I think I may need a GST in the very near future to keep these things sharp. Do most people prefer the small or large models as an all-arounder??
The smaller GST is easier to carry around or pack with you, I use my larger one more though.
Prying, honing, splitting, and scraping.
The little ones have moved to be back ups. Just in case I lose it or the impossible break it. You’ll be happy with either though.
Thanks for your insight! Ill go ahead and start LARGE. Maybe when I get to the online store, Scott will secretly have me a TC and Guarded Tusker waiting...
I havebothbot only because my wsk came with asmall one. I use large exclusively
I also have one of the gerber honing steels from the 70s. reading some review scott says that was his inspiration for the GST. frankly GST is a vast improvement in every way. it's shorter and lighter while at the same time offering a better sharpening surface and more functionality.
Resurrecting some of my videos with Gossman blades being used or used to make the projects.
you probably do more in a week than most of us do all year.
GST Comparison shot Gerber honing steel on right
Getting work done...
^^^ Stunning collection! I need to get busy.
WST, GST, UNK. Helping take care of the elderly. Snow and ice removal. Apologies no action shots. I just got busy. Five driveways and walkways done, now onto my own.
@S.Gossman I wanted to let you know one of these guys pictured below loves a few of your blades I’ve shared with him.
That's pretty cool @ArmyMacE I'm honored.
Tinkering with ideas...
Try it on the knife so you cam find it in the dark I'd like to see how that works. I'm still 8 years old when it comes to glowing stuff lol
Sitting at the computer doing some research, reading up on Bush-classs requirements, and deciding on which blade to bring along.
Dumping pockets from my pants and coat...
I wish I could use a knife to fix this...
Had an interesting week in regards to my collection. For the time being, this is my only Gossman, but I can tell you the family is growing next week! My daughter wants roasted marshmallows tonight, so the fire prep begins...
(That sweet back drop is a fabric sample I “borrowed” from the wife who is apparently having some of our chairs reupholstered)
Who else is excited for Kevin Estella’s new book!
I need to get some time and funds set aside to earn one of his pocket knives and patches.
You can only get them by earning them in his classes.
I wish that I still had my Bolo! It was my favorite blade EVER! Life kicked me in the gnads and I traded/resold to raise funds. It was in 3V, brown scale and totally awesome.
You know who has it? I'll keep an eye out
Dang, I think I need a Bolo too after seeing Jarrod’s pic. We gonna be seeing any big blades soon??
Kubo's, BBT's and Bolos coming in the next month.
That was an awesome video Jarrod. Thanks.
Jarrod, that video was awesome.
Scott, this next beer is being drank in your honor.
Now to work on good excuses/apologies for the wife...
Edit: I call dibs on a BOLO!!!
Yay big blades!
Scott, when you release them, please don't forget your left coast fans on Pacific time. It would break my heart to wake up to "This item is out of stock" on that Kubo. See avatar.
Some stuff from today...
