It’s a great day to be alive... listening to the birds singing, a cool breeze blowing in. With a sharp blade I’ve put through some hell, and a nice hot cup of coffee and a bit of Scotch...

I need to get back to that side of the country so I can earn one of those patches...

    Thanks,

A neat discovery today. Apparently the vibrations made while doing a hand drill friction fire practice aggravate ants. While chasing down an ember I started feeling them crawling all over my legs. A couple little bites...

Wouldn’t a second hole make it hard to use the flat for sharpening? Or do you only use the round side?

SP is definitely a big hit. Dan Shechtman came up with a great concept.

Yes it is! I might sell a few other knives and get another SP for a backup.

Was testing a few of my large knives chopping on some very hard eucalyptus. Sent my kubo ii down the middle of a long one. S7 is no joke. I think we all know how strong it is but I amazed how long it can hold an edge for. What a great steel and easy to sharpen. Then again, I am a fan of crappy a2 and POS O1 so what do I know?

Thanks to @Moe M. I am blessed to be the current care tracker of this amazing Gossman wsk. I cant believe how fortunate I am. It arrived smelling of campfire and had a gorgeous patina. I wish it could reveal the stories of its past adventures. Hopefully I will be able to add to the saga.

I am relatively new to the tracker/wsk scene. My story probably parallels many. I will say I had been doubly bit by the Gossman and WSK at the same time. For them to come together in this WSK is somewhat mind boggling - even more so given the fact that Scott may not make them again and there are apparently less than a handful in existence.

First thing I did was of course process some wood, make a fire, make some curls and get a feel for it vs. A couple other tracker/wsk's I have. This is my 5th wsk and it is amazing how different each has been and the strengths of each. I can immediately appreciate the thinner stock and it could very well be the best "knife" of the few I have tried....meaning for cutting and slicing type tasks. Truly impressive piece of kit and looking forward to putting some miles on her.

Lol. In this sub forum...the Gossman. Wait till my Beck arrives, then ask me in a year. but initial thoughts between these three:

Cox - for throwing (also makes best straw curls)
Wenger - for chopping (no contest)
Gossman - for cutting and knife use (actual cutting, slicing, carving). Really liking the thinner stock.

Anyone else ever forgotten they had a knife? I was cleaning today and found this short bolo I'd purchased a few months ago shortly before heading out of state for most of the summer... Totally forgot about it!

Anyway here's my current Gossman family picture.
    Top to bottom:
Short Bolo 3v natural canvas micarta
    CFK 3v natural canvas micarta
Gasconade (Turley collaboration) 3v camo micarta
    Polaris 3v green canvas micarta
    Unk 3v natural canvas micarta
Unk unmarked but I believe it's A2 green something (micarta?)
    Gossman striker O1 (thanks @foxfire)

I guess I have a thing for 3v and natural canvas micarta...

That's the perfect name for that knife! But you're wrong about me not missing it. It travels with me and has been a pretty constant companion even when not worn on my belt. I'll likely be buried with it.

Just sold a knife and discovered the Skab leatherworks custom sheath I had made for it (which no way I was selling) fits my survival puukko perfectly. I am over the moon. @Skab is my all-time favorite sheaths! Skab pants are back 9n the rotation.
