    Nice shooting!
I've been thinking about heading up to the range. I never shot at a range except when I got my bow. It would be weird with the customers right there, but if I can't shoot with people behind me, who's to say I can shoot with a deer in front of me. Right?

When I'm shooting in front of people I'm kinda hoping for some constrictive criticism LOL. If you ever come down to Northern VA we could go to my local club, lots of ranges and a 2 mile 3d course. Hardly anyone is ever there!

EDIT: Invitation is open to any member :)

I shot today and shoot on average 4-6 days a week year round. I love my bows. My custom Sarrels Sierra longbow came in today. I must say I am FAR more pleased than I hoped to be with it. It's the only bow that I've ever shot which I actually liked shooting more than my one piece Sarrels Sierra. Objectively it launches an arrow identically with the same speed, smoothness, lack of hand shock, lack of vibration, etc. However the sound quality of it is ever so slightly deeper in pitch and slightly more quiet.

I fletched up half a dozen brand new arrows last night and promptly lost one today to a really bad pluck. Ooh, it hurt. Not even any dirt on the fletchings yet.

Do you have a metal detector? If so, and if it's a better one, it might have a "target match" feature made for finding lost earrings and such. You can get another arrow and pass the insert with field point under it so it knows the objects electric current through the magnetic field and it will only chirp out a match to that item. I was hoping you'd say aluminum so any old metal detector would work with that nice all metal long target lol.

Also, do you have snow on the ground? If not, I try to find my yard lost arrows by walking around barefoot and feeling for the shaft with my feet. I also have had success using a plastic long tined yard rake. Good luck!

Hehe thanks buddy, I lost it at the range, which is nothing but loam, bracken and dead leaves. I walked it for a good while but sometimes if the arrow hits right, it enters a transdimensional portal to a faraway world and will only become visible again on tuesdays of odd-numbered leap years.
I've heard of people using GPS to locate arrows, but you can only get as accurate as about ten feet, and in deep cover you may as well not even know which ten feet for all the good it'll do you.

If it makes you feel any better, when it passed through that portal it probably struck an orc right between the eyes,

Oh man, I am the most susceptible person I know to bad psychic ju-ju screwing with my shooting. Twenty yards, instinctive, but way to many violent, no-good plucks, almost like little miniature convulsions on the release. (It's gotten so bad I re-fletched everything neon green, that's why your eyes hurt. :4: ) Shoot through it, I guess...

    Hey, at least you're shootin'.
I feel guilty for not having shot since the bad weather set in.

really happy to get back on the horse, these are groups from 20+yds, just picking a spot and letting go, with two different spines and two different OALs.

7 yards across my living room and dining room with my 50# recurve.

Not all my groups look like this, but after two dozen arrows or so my groups start settling in and averaging smaller groups like this.

Once it gets warmer outside I plan on getting a lot more shooting in at 20 yards. It’s my goal to become proficient enough to start hunting with it.

Carbon Express Heritage 150 (500 spine)
    29.325” length
    15 grain aluminum insert
    250 grain field point

I love it! It's not "me vs. her" but I think even my wife would have issues with me shooting my bows inside the house.

I finally set up my "re-bagged" target. Took the plastic off the side porch, too. I'm hoping we don't see any more snow.

I need work. I couldn't remember anything. Nor was I even trying to. My mind was a blank and my anchor didn't seem right. But my muscle memory must have kicked in because I managed a 2-1/2" group at 20yds with my first five arrows of the year.
    1.jpg

Then after the sixth arrow, which was a flyer, I stuck the other four into the bull.

I'm getting back in form now. Just the occasional flyer, which might be the arrow. I ought to mark them.

All of my archery experience is from playing with sticks in the woods, but I'm having fun and learning a lot.

I was feeling pretty good shooting from 20yds, picking my dot and hitting it, so I moved back to 60.
I knew my arrows were hitting in the center somewhere from the soft thud, but when I walked to the target I was surprised they looked like a group.

I would love to be shooting my recurves but my shoulder is paining me pretty bad. I dug a bunch of fence post holes and some holes for landscape plants with post hole diggers (the manual kind you slam into the ground that was rock hard) a month ago - about 40 holes total. I don't know why my shoulder hurts so bad, but I wish it would quit.

I shot it!..........was grouping a bit right so I made the adjustment. Now I am deadly at 10 yards!

I could hit like that with spears at 10 yds also. Well it is a start............yo 20190419_141632.jpg 20190419_142731.jpg 20190419_144736.jpg

Those quirks you got with people behind you. Fear of the unknown. No biggie. Mere technicalities. You can shoot a deer in front of you - I would bet on it
