Hey everyone. Glad to make your acquaintance. I bushcraft down here in the Gila National Forest and Gila Wilderness. I meet so few bushcrafters (or anyone, really) that I think I have the whole 3.3 million acres to myself sometimes. I was thinking maybe there were some other New Mexicans to adventure with. I just joined so bear with me as I figure out the site.

Howdy neighbor! Welcome to BCUSA, this is a great forum with some really nice folks. I live only about an hour or so from you, over in the Cliff/Gila area (practically next door by New Mexico standards :D). There is at least one other forum member from our area, as well.

Hey OrienM. Cool dog. We have 60 acres over off LS Mesa next to Bear mountain with a mile of Nat. Forest boundary, by Allen Spring / Walnut Creek. I was thinking it would be a good place for a gathering. Is that what people do? I think it would be kickass to meet some more woodspeople. I've been a loner since I came here in 2003.

Weird. I was just camping at the Box till yesterday...River's up!

Wow, if you've been hanging out at the Box you were less than a mile from my house, as the crow flies. I've done some hiking right around your area, too...I work at the Aldo Leopold high school in Silver, and we take the students hiking to Allen springs, Gomez peak, and other local spots.

I'd be up for a get-together sometime...I grew up here (mostly) and know some other primitive skills/bushcraft types who might be interested in something like this, too.

I was watching some Aldo Leopold kids seining the river out at the Box a couple months ago. I tried to make them save me their Hellgrammites. They forgot :-(

Kids these days, so distracted... The students do regular invertebrate seining as part of the science program; they always get excited when they get a hellgrammite.

Happy new year to you, too!

Hey Dom. I went to bootcamp in Orlando in 1980. Lived in Mayport (Jax) for 5 years. Hung out at Ocala mostly. I Tell you what! I have a Yucca and Cactus collection going on in my front yard and I would love a big Palmetto. Not Palmetto bugs though...you can keep them! :)

Hey Dom. You've been here a long time. Who do I talk to or where do I post something like asking for advice for somebody setting up some kind of Rendezvous or get together or whatever? Like what kind of stuff should I do? Cut a bunch of log rounds or camp furniture? I just have a great piece of property and an unlimited amount of campsites and timber and access to the National Forest. Running spring water too. Is there a special place where people talk about this stuff? Any help, Thanks!
