Well, I hinted at this GAW when I had the mini tracker sheath GAW and here it is. I have been picking things up here and there as I go to the store for things I "need" (let's face it do we really NEED anything we go to an outdoors store for). I have also tossed in a few things that have fallen out of my rotation of use, so I figured someone else using them is better than it just sitting in a tote in my closet.

    20191001_180154.jpg
    Contents are as follows:
    - Mesh bag (about the size of a pillow case)
    - 3 Chem-Lights (Green, Red, and Blue)
    - 50 feet of 550 cord
    - A hand full of Chaga (harvested by yours truly in Northern Wisconsin)
    - Multicam pouch (good size for holding a folder)
    - Net "Hammock" with 550 cord ridgeline and nylon cord with steel ring hanging straps. This is a spare of mine. I never use mine as a hammock but I am sure it would make a good gear holder.
    - 3 Two packs of Hot hands hand warmers
    - Sea to Summit 3pc Alpha Set
    - ACU bandanna
    - Mossy Oak die cut camouflage fabric (12 ft x 56 in)
    - Some of the juiciest fat wood I have ever come across. I harvested this last fall in Central Minnesota
    - Berkley Filet knife (this will need sharpening)
    - Sweetfire Strikeable fire starters
    - 2 NiteIze Slide lock Carabiners (one 10lb and one 25lb)
    - ACU IFAK pouch. The insert is still in this but not the contents. However the C-A-T is still in it.
    - Back Packers Pantry (Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken)
    - InstaFire fire starter (As seen on Shark Tank)
    - USGI Mess kit Dated 1982 (Just the pan with the lid/plate NO utensils)
    - Sawyer Picaridin Bug Lotion (This is by far and away the best bug repellant I have ever used. It goes on easy doesn't smell like you fell into a chemical vat and bonus for all you fishermen, it doesn't degrade fishing line)
    - Dead Down Wind enzymatic wash towels.

One of my obsessions is building specific "kits" for when I am in the bush. I like to take a container, pouch, maxpedition style organizer, etc . . . . and fill it with things for a specific use. For instance a fire making kit, a kayak ditch kit, shit just got real we need to make it through the night kit. My favorite is a kit I call my camp kit. I made it using an insert from a combat medic aid bag. I filled it with many things I might need while sitting around camp. I made this because I was tired of running back to my bag from the fire to get something. Now I just grab that kit and take it with me to the fire.

To enter this giveaway post a picture of a specific kit you have put together. Big or small, it doesn't matter. ***** FIRST AID KITS WILL NOT COUNT ***** We should ALL have a first aid kit. If you don't shame on you go buy one or make one. Admittedly I am looking for ideas for other types of kits but I am sure this will give others ideas. I will let this giveaway run until Tuesday October 22nd. At noon CST I will determine the winner through a random process.

    ***** EDIT *****
By Proxy entries are allowed. You are also allowed to "By Proxy" for others that are already in giving them an additional entry. Multiple kits will not count as multiple entries but feel free to post them for everybody to see.

Like most of us, I carry a fak in each of my packs, as well as a fire source, but of all the various kits I have, this is the only one that goes on every outing. Everything except the tin (contains cotton balls and birch bark) were gifted to me through Secret Santa.

I'd love to be in please! If you're only doing CONUS, I'll pay-it-forward if my name comes out of the hat. :) Thanks for the opportunity!

I put this one together this morning for today's aborted adventure, after reading @chansta's "How do you make coffee?" thread. GSI Kettle Brew & Cook Kit. It boils, bakes and steams! (In addition to the obvious water boiling and reheating of soup, etc., it's also the perfect size for cooking a MH meal in and it makes a steamed biscuit like a champ, though I haven't tried that with the silicone cup yet.) There's lots of room in the stuff sack the add chow, coffee, etc....

    PA025403.JPG PA025404.JPG PA025405.JPG
GSI Halulite Kettle, GSI pot gripper, aluminum wind screen, small spork, piece of aluminum foil & piece of parchment paper, strainer, collapsible silicone cup, East German Kooker (modified to hold alcohol), Clipper lighter and a 4 oz Naglene of alcohol.

I would like to enter if its ok for new members. If not that's cool too it is bad ass that the members here do this type of stuff...anyway with the exception of the knives , the water bottle, and the sterno collapsible grill. Everything fits into the 2 quart pot. Then it all fit into an old leather bag I found that my dad used to use for muzzleloading . the altoids tin holds about 25 feet of fishing line And assorted hooks, sinkers and a piece of cork that should work as a bobber( I haven't had a chance to try that yet ) . it also has matches, thread and a needle. I put a small thing of dental floss as well . I figured it has 6 yards in it and I can use it for cordage in a pinch and it don't take much space. 20191007_223413.jpg

My sewing kit. The case is a sort of hard case that I bought at, of all places, Kmart a long time ago. It is some kind of mobile video game case. I have needles, various threads, scissors, etc. I'm thinking about downsizing this kit, and going to a smaller pouch carrier. I actually use this quite a bit. Now, the pics.

    IMG_20191007_214614879-540x960.jpg IMG_20191007_214633892-540x960.jpg IMG_20191007_214643098-540x960.jpg

That shotgun shells thing is a mini sewing kit that came to me from a member here.

Next up is my edc fire kit. I keep this mounted on the side of my Maxpedition day pack that is with me wherever I go.
    IMG_20191007_220705588_BURST000_COVER_TOP.jpg

    It contains:
Ferro rod. This is the first gift I received from a member here. I've had this a long time and have started a lot of fires with it.
    A Marbles match safe.
    A Fenix flashlight.
    A SAK Alox Farmer.
In the little red bag is my magnifying glass lense.
Some army fire stuff. :) I can't remember what this stuff is called. :18::18::18:

I don't have flint and steel in here, because I usually carry that in my pocket.

That is exactly the kind of spice kit I am looking for. Can you give me any information on it. Granted I use Cavender's so much all four might be filled with Cavender's. I am sure I can figure out a few other seasonings to add to the mix. Tony Chachere's is quickly gaining use in my kit. I doubt it is ever going to surpass Cavender's but with a kit like this, I can pack both.
Now that is the kind of kit I can get behind.

Honestly I just found the pouch at a thrift shop. Its an old camera case which is padded on the inside and works well for the little glass bottles. I found the glass bottles at a garage sale for 10 cents each. They fit perfectly in the camera pouch and I just got lucky.

Today I put my Tetris Master skills to the test and boxed up the swag for this GAW. I have honed these skills during my years in the Army packing, unpacking, and repacking shipping containers for no discernable reason. All those that were/are in the Army know what I am talking about. Anyway, when I was done there was a small area still left so I decided to fill it with this UCO match safe with storm matches and extra strikers. If you are unfamiliar with UCO storm matches, they will stay lit in even the worst of conditions. I have even dunked a lit match into water and it relit once I removed it from the water. 11 days remain to get your entries in. 20191011_095507.jpg

Those matches are the best. Legend had it that Poseidon used these to light his forge where the Trident was made. Not sure if it's true or not, but seems to me I read that online somewhere...:33:

It might not be getting the views due to the letters "GAW" not being in the thread title so folks might not know it's a GAW at a glance. Just a guess.

Omitting those letters keeps out the riff-raff.

I read this when it was posted. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get in for this one or not.

I guess I'll toss my name in the mix, I'm In.

I will get some pics of a couple kits I put together recently, and one I want to try and get done today.

Great GAW and thank you kindly for the opportunity.

OK. So here's a fire kit I put together maybe a month or so ago, I already posted this elsewhere, but here it is again. Also a fishing kit I have been working on getting right since I was a teenager.

Yes, I put a knife in my fishing kit. I find smaller folders work better for gutting small fish and even scaling.

I like using bobbers if I use the stick and line method. I think I may have room for enough to put a couple stick bobbers in.

Cook kit might make this thread. Not sure yet.

I’ve been so busy I had forgotten about this.
I’ll post up a pic later of a kit in progress...

Awesome give away! I am in. For something a little different here is my "fishing kit". Complete with home made Paracord jigs. IMG_20190801_180049548.jpg

Just posting an extra for fun. Finally got around to building a F&S fire kit today.

What a wonderful GAW. I'm continuously blown away by the goodwill this community shares. I'd love to say I'm in, and here are a couple images of my firestarting kit, with detailed text included.

I coated all exposed surfaces of the cardboard box with Elmers Wood Glue Max (indoor and outdoor) twice. The leather was attached with the same glue, and I used Silver Creek Waxed Leather lacing to stitch the corners. Once complete and dry, I sealed the leather with a heavy duty water repellent. It has held up through three Ohio winters and multiple storms/rainy seasons.

I still need to find a suitable steel striker for the tin, but overall it works and looks great.

Cheers and thanks again for the amazing GAW!,
