    Excellent deal.

Probably the best bang for your buck Bushcraft axe out there.

This is the best "bang for your buck" deal around for a handy, capable ax IMO. This is like the Mora Knife of the ax world!

I have the Husqvarna Forest Axe not the Carpenters axe, but I’ve been very pleased with it. I intially bought it to be an inexpensive axe to just leave in the car for emergencies. This summer I used it extensively in camping trips to Yellowstone and Rocky Mountain National Park, and could not have been more happy especially for the cost.

The first picture is my youngest eating a s’more in Yellowstone, and the second is our fire in RMNP. My six year old helped make the feather sticks for that one and was quite proud of herself.

I have their carpenters axe and their hatchet and I like them a lot. I don't think there's a budget axe to match their stuff. For what it's worth, I've also read that they contract their heads out to HB.

One thing that bugs me about the Husqvarna axes is the deeply stamped logo right about where the hardening zone ends. I've seen quite a few pictures where the whole end snapped off on a line through the lettering. If they just moved the stamp up an inch it probably wouldn't be a problem. Or perhaps the quench was too severe or ???

Good point. They should just stamp them near the poll end. Like everyone else.

Hultafors, Hults Bruk, Wetterlings, Helko, Husqvarna all seem to stamp in roughly the same spot on the cheek. Gransfors Bruks puts it near the poll. I've seen some pictures of vintage heads over the lip. Some markings here and there near the poll. But most stamps seem to be on the cheeks. Am I missing something? I did a fair bit of image searches.
Have a link to this? It's something I'd really like to read an account of. I can't seem to find any sort of image. Short of driving a maul straight down on the top of the head, it's an outcome that's hard to imagine.

I think the issue is with how deep the stamp is on the cheek that could cause a stress issue eventually. I have two of the Husqvarna hatchets and always thought stamp was both too deep and poorly placed. For example, Becker knives moved away from stamping the blades (Camillus vs Kabar produced Beckers) to laser etching due to the potential for stress fractures.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. Maybe these guys are all axe twisters who try to pry open splits. Maybe it's a temper issue. Maybe it's the stamp. Or some combination thereof. Whatever the case, given the few reported instances, it's a bit surprising to hear that they cite a 30 day warranty instead of just offering a one-off replacement. It's reasonable to have some kind of time limit but it's also reasonable to expect a properly used axe head to outlive the original owner.

The odd part is the discoloration below the logo. And the picture on the right has an odd break line.

Don't know how but mine ended up being 41 and some change. I'm still stoked about it.
