This is turning into a fairly frequent thing for me--buy some piece of surplus gear, go through the contents, blog it and/or make a video, then sell that kit back out into the wild. A while back I bought US Air Force surplus Survival Kit and Medical Modules. I like to take a look at the contents of these, and I think some of you guys might also be interested.

The full post is here on our company's Survival Nerd blog. Click on through for many more pics and info. The pic below shows the outer pouches (which were still vacuum-sealed when I got the modules). Each also has an inner resealable bag. Both modules are complete. The time-limited components are expired, but all are pristine and working, since they were vacuum-sealed for the last 8 years until just a few months ago.

We also made a Youtube video of this, which we have posted here in the past. Here's that video:

We're getting in the habit of showing blog stuff next to a banana, for scale purposes. Everyone knows about how big a banana is. That's the theory, anyway.

Bananas do vary in size. When I need something to show scale I frequently use a $10 bill. I ensure the serial number is covered or obscured.

Maybe I should use a can of Campbell's soup? Or better yet, Marilyn Monroe!

    Good thinking!

In other news, I just bought a surplus Cold Climate Survival Kit. This was part of an ejection seat assembly in some type of Army aircraft. Will post up pics in a few weeks.
