ED0FD554-2583-4289-9BB2-ED983CDF1030.jpeg I provided the music for a new artist’s gallery opening show last night. While setting up my rig I became amused at the tizzy the gallery workers had worked themselves into. They had candles to light and could not find a lighter or matches anywhere. I pulled out my wallet (where I keep waxed oil lamp wicks) and my SAK/ferro and saved the day. The gallery is situated between 2 private liberal arts colleges. By the end of the evening no few than 20 young men had asked me if I really did light the candles with no matches/lighter. They were in awe. And I’m having a cape tailor-made. Doc.

You could stash the cape away in your guitar case and always have it with you in case of emergencies, lol!

Job done! Educated a lot of young people and perhaps inspired them to expand their world. That sounds like time well spent to me! Well done!
    Cheers!

You get accolades but all I got was raised eyebrows and looks of dismay...
Didn’t use a ferro rod, but offered my lighter that is attached to my EDC knife to light the candles at church....
Taps on the shoulder and “ I didn’t know you smoke” was all I got!

Good job! No feeling quite like having just what is needed to "save" the day! I know it made you very proud because I'm proud for you!

Several years ago my daughter used her pink SAK classic (7th birthday present from dad) to cut something at work. She was the only girl in the group and she had the only knife! Those guys were quite impressed and she was very proud of that knife as was I proud of her!:dblthumb:

I am usually the first person people around me ask when they need to borrow a knife. I have a rule that if the same person asks me 3 times, they clearly have a need to carry their own and I suggest some good options and then deny them the use of mine.

Right On. In our modern civilized society, many people think that being prepared means a debit card and a cell phone. :44:
