I lived in Houston Texas from 1971 to 1992 and my best friend there was a fellow named Ed Crump, we met

when I went down there for AT&T and we worked together for 20 years or so, we both had a interest in guns,

knives, bows and hunting, he became like the brother I never had and we hunted in Texas, New Mexico,

Montana and Colorado and shared many campfires and tents together

I moved to Arkansas in 92 and we continued our friendship long distance and with his trips up here to ride the

Buffalo river and lie, drink beer and just have a great time.

In the last few years with age creeping up on both of us he did not make the trip but we kept in touch by phone

still talking about guns women and motor cycles which he loved and of course our families.

After all these years I feel a huge amount of loss with his passing and would tell all you folks to enjoy and

cherish your friends while you can as time slips away in the blink of a eye and they will be gone just like Ed.

We are both 75 years old and it seems like yesterday we were 27 or so

Rest in peace Ed , you were a hell of a man and a really great friend!

    Larry

I feel some of your loss with you as I think of friends past and, friends and Brothers present. He's not truly gone as he is with us now here. Think of it that he is scouting the prime fishing holes in the beyond. May your and now our friend rest in piece.

I forgot to mention that Ed was a Airborne trooper with over 100 jumps in his logbook and served in Korea and Germany, and a killer lefthanded tennis player too!

My ole Daddy told me when I was young that I would be able to count on one hand all the REAL friends I would have in my life and Edward or Fast Eddie as we called him was one of those!

    I lost a friend “ fast Eddie “ 1n 1969
To a remotely controlled explosive .

I had known him less than a year as was common back then .

As you say at our age best be getting in touch with those guys you’ve been meaning to look up .

A few years ago I googled a friend from that era and was shocked to find his obituary .

Your Ed is much more like loosing a brother though . My condolences .

Real friends, real ones, are hard to come by. Larry I'm glad you got to share years of your life and so many experiences with Ed. I'm sure it hurts deep that he's gone but he lives on in your memories.

I feel your pain. My condolences to you. I guess we all have a story to tell about things like that.

You are lucky to have had him in your life. Not everyone is as fortunate. Build a campfire and sit down and have a beer or two with his memory. ( Or a cup of coffee if that's what works better for you)

Thank you for sharing. I, like others here know exactly how much you are hurting. That is what makes us human.
Remember the time you shared and know that those we have lost suffer no more.
