Most machines made after the 50's use a type 15 bobbin a lot of those parts interchange with different brands I can wire a foot controller to work on any machine as long as it is rated for the right amps . When I can use it for parts and save twice what it cost to buy and ship it , I have a hard time letting it pass

I have bought several machines from there haven't got one yet that needed anything above minor repairs . The grand total for 2 machines plus S&H. was 42.70

That's pretty good work, Roy. I checked a neat old Morse machine and shipping was $50+.

That is how my lovely wife looks at it
You have to watch shipping ,West coast and New England can be high . I check shipping cost before I look seriously at buying one

@plumberoy almost went down same road myself :18: stopped at 3

Do you have a specific make or period that draws you more than others?

edit> forgot to add that all of mine were needing parts (which are in postal system now thankfully)

Late 50's - 60's white brand is my favorite after the black/brown before plastic a lot of them are bright colors 2 tone. Machines that heavy . Most are just as good or better then singers of the same time. Even on plastic machines I tend to get whites . I have an old singer handcrank 3 whites from the era I like . A 80's -90's white and a fairly modern 3/4 size Janome the two I bought one is an 80's brother And a white that I would guess to be made in the last few years whites where made . SingerCo ended production in 2006 . I have made some minor repairs or adjustments but never had to buy parts to get a machine from good will working yet.
Actually I got an extra bobbin case in one I got, that saved me from having to buy one

I seem to be a Singer guy so far but haven't ruled the Whites out as seen a few around here. Thanks for the reply :dblthumb:

The local sewing store has strips of denim to show you how many a machine will sew through. After trying several machines, the first one that could equal the blue and white machine pictured was $499

As I have said before I really need to stay off shopgoodwill.com (like that's going to happen [IMG]) I bought 2 machines Sunday. They arrived Thursday . 1 is a late model White more than likely one of the last Whites made .
I changed the needle adjusted the bobbin thread tension and it is a decent usable machine. I have $25.87 in this machine . The gem to me is a Brother VX-710 $3.00 + $13.83 shipping for a total of $16.83. This looks to me like an 80's machine. It isn't pretty , but has everything I need and nothing I don't . I threaded it up and it took off sewing like a new one [IMG] .
I am running out of room with 8 sewing machines and 2 sergers
