The slaughterhouse knife/pig sticker. Anyone found a use for these, well other than sticking critters in the slaughter? I bought one because it was cheap and has an odd Ek vibe to the grind, but so help me I can't see an actual use for it.

Mine is shockingly well ground for a $10 disposable work knife.

I found the Dexter Russel version at the flea market a couple of weeks ago, I thought about grinding the edges down near the handle keeping about 3.5 inches of double edged goodness to make a boot knife.

Thought about picking up one of these many a time. Can you give me the dimensions on it? Blade length is what I want to know.

I say throw it in a leather sheath and take it hunting.

I'll be honest after an incident when I was young with a knife that had no guard or step from the handle to the blade I can't usually even hold one that just goes from handle to edge like that without getting the heebie jeebies... don't get me wrong I love the look of them, and always wanted an excuse to own one, but nope.... not this kid, not my hands...

AmVike. it's about a 6" blade. Thickness is minimal-1/8 or less.

A KaBar sheath would fit it then.

I'm with GoodOlBoy on no finger guards though. I have and use knives without guards but only because the knife has everything else I want in a knife. I think I am going to stop buying knives without guards though - there's just too many options now to risk that.

With that being said, I'm still intrigued by this pig sticker.
