Hey Folks! We are pretty excited about this little friction folder. John and I started JB Knife and Tool with the idea of makeing affordable high quality tools that the average joe, like us, could depend on. As most of the makers here would agree on, quality materials and time are two major contributing factors to pricing our blades, and nobody wants to sacrifice quality so the only thing we can try to change to lower price is time. We have been working on trying to come up with designs that we can build quickly, but not sacrifice build quality and function. This little friction folder has hit the nail on the head! Its made from 1\16" 1095 and has a blade length of 2.5". Handles are textured black G10 with either copper (shown), brass or stainless tubing. It comes with a convex edge and is razor sharp. The best part is that its only $55 dollars :). We are going to do a run of these for Christmas so let us know if you want on the list and thanks for looking!

    Hi Kevin,
so the friction folder dosent lock, but the pivot is pretty tight so it wont open in your pocket. and when its open the bar that sticks out when its closed goes into the handle and stops on a pin. So when you are holding the knife, you palm keeps it from closing on your fingers. also the bar is fairly tight in the groove cut for it in the back of the handle, so when open its pretty solid. does that make sence??

as for carrying , i carry mine in the little lighter pocket on my jeans, fits just right. others carry in a leather sheath. (John at badger claw will have the template for this folder) and for about 5 dollars i'll add a pocket clip on there for you as well :) All up to you buddy.

If you decide to give it a try and then realize that its not what you were looking for when you get it, just call me up and send it back and i'll give you a refund :)

    Thanks again for the questions!

I have several friction folders and would like to know how the pivot can be tightened if needed on this one ?

    Thats a great question!
The pivot is set pretty tight on this, but will loosen a little over time. if you would like to tighten it back up you would need to adjust the swedge in the tube. This is best done with fairing tools for tubing, but if you dont have them you could use a chamfer bit. Or just send it to us and we'll sharpen it up for you and tighten the pivot for you :)
