Just moved to Southeast Ohio from San Diego and would like to meet up with some locals some time. I don't have much gear. Enough for day trips. But there are plenty of areas for day trips.

You are probably in the best area of Ohio for bushcrafting because of your proximity to Wayne NF. Although I’m in SW Ohio, I’d be glad to meet up for day trips. I have gear I can loan you for overnighters.

Lots of us camp SE Ohio, and many are local to SE Ohio.

I’m in Nelsonville, only a few miles away. Shoot me a PM and I’d be happy to show you around some good spots in the Wayne.

Welcome to the forum and to Ohio!
We have a great climate for bushcrafting: four distinct seasons, varied topography, lots of wildlife, mostly friendly people.
Gear comes with time and experience. Get to know your new area and you will know what to get. Making friends with people who compulsively collect gear (i.e. us) doesn't hurt.
    See you around!

Was out of town last week. Just getting caught up.

Welcome from over near Troy, OH.

Keep an eye on the Ohio sub-forum (https://bushcraftusa.com/forum/forums/ohio.72/) for upcoming events and outings here in Ohio.

Don't forget to also check out the BushClass threads (https://bushcraftusa.com/forum/forums/bushclass-usa.132/) for great lessons and info.

And finally, LOTS of great resources in the download section. https://bushcraftusa.com/forum/resources/

As for the gear... If an outing is announced that you really want to attend, just say something. I'm pretty sure that enough gear can be rounded up to make it happen.

Just get two or three of us to pack heavy and there'd be enough redundancy to outfit another person, no problem.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Legionares is no joke.
The weather is making getting out more difficult. Rain, flooding, oppressive heat, then more rain. And tornadoes. Haven't gotten out much myself.
