Just wondering if anybody has done it, and any boat launch better for reaching the better islands. Will becoming in from I-30.
Looking at launching from the state park.

    Thanks, Bench.

For the better islands you need to put in at Brady Mtn or Crystal Springs west of Hot Springs. Word of advice, THE LAKE IS DOWN. We have some parts above water right now that usually are not. If you have a bigger boat, use Crystal Springs. The ramp is better protected from wind and wave action since it is not right off the main lake. And not because we are moving to a mile from it.

    Thanks StoneHopper.

I didn't get to go, because of business.

I have a 14' Jonboat, but will use Brady to launch my boat.

If you are in that small of a boat on Ouachita, watch the weather very closely. I have seen some weather on that lake come in quick and bad. You might spend some time getting good practice of emergency skills if it catches you. Go out into the main lake from Brady and head WNW and you are looking at a fairly big island that the houseboaters call hotel island. The North end would be a better spot for a solo in a small boat. Also has some smaller islands near it on that end that are not too bad.

I live where I can put in at either one in just aout a half hour but am about to move out near Crystal Springs. It will be nice being about a mile from the ramp.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I hope to make it up there before they start dumping trout at Albert Pike.
