Hey all, just wanted to check in a post a note. This time of year becomes my busy year and I hardly have the time to do much of anything. My work takes a lot of my time, good thing I love it and it forces me to have crazy hours. I'm still alive and trying to get out but unfortunately the rain in North Central PA has kept me close to home.

My other hobby has taken a hit as well from the rainy weather but the last few weeks has produced some clear nights. I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours last night testing a new set up and produced some nice pictures of Messier 8, the Lagoon Nebula (the large nebula at the 5 o'clock position) and M20, the Trifid Nebula (at the 11 o'clock position). Attached is a singular photo. Since I was testing I was unable to produce a stacked image which would be a tad brighter and more colorful.

    Hope you enjoy.

    Cool photo, thanks.
Been meaning to get up to the Cherry Springs area for some star gazing. Maybe this summer.

Same picture after heavy processing. A lot of video noise in the photo as well as chromatic aberration which processing took care of, mostly.

That’s not even stacked!?!? I am just getting into photography and have been trying to take some night shots. I’ve had some ok ones but nothing that deep space. I also only have a micro 4/3 camera I use more for video so the crop factor limits light. I have yet to get to an area with enough good composition to try stacking. Hopefully I can catch the Milky Way this summer.

If you get any milky way pics, I'd love to see them!

Actually is stacked, 26 x 60" subs, 8 darks, and 8 Bias frames to help get rid of the noise taken at a different time and temp, so not ideal. These pictures were also taken as jpegs and not RAW because I was testing my tracking (which failed), however, my mount was very well polar aligned and the mount did well enough to track for 60 second subs without causing star trails. I was actually surprised how well this turned out.

Very cool. Way more advanced than anything I’ve done. I don’t have anything for tracking and need to learn the difference in taking light and dark frames for stacking.

    Wow! Incredible photos-

I'd love to live far enough from all the light pollution to be able to see that at night!
