Hmmmmm I need some catchin up on the bills money. I’ve got a few hundred 12 gauge rounds, some mix ‘n match odd ball stuff (random 9mm, 38spl, 7.62x54r) from guns I don’t own anymore.

A few year back there was an event offering $100 for any gun turned in. Some people were picking up garbage guns like the Raven Arms 25 Auto for next to nothing and making a nice profit.

I wonder if it matters if the bullets are actually in cartridges. Wish it wasn't so far to drive.....

I keep one worthless POS on hand, just in case this ever comes up in my area. Not bloody likely though.

You could buy a few cans of XM193 and quadruple or better your money.

[note: I would still never support a dirty dog program like this, does not include tax, title, license, and other fees, always wear your seatbelt]

It says bullets, not cartridges. Time to clean out the target bays at the range.

Seriously though, these programs are all about publicity and being seen to "fix the problem" without actually affecting anything. They probably only have a couple thousand dollars (being generous) to use and when that's gone they will close shop.

Later there will be a big press conference with the pastor, chief of police, and some politicians about how they saved "thousands of lives" by getting all this "dangerous ordnance" off the streets. I mean, I'm not trying to be cynical but...

If you're nearby, you might as well take their money and laugh in their faces.

30 rounds?.....they come 50 rds to a box....I hate odd ball partial boxes of ammo.

Besides....If there are no question asked....how would they know, if you just went out to the car and got the rest of a box?

Many wait outside to see what people are bringing in....and paying more for some stuff that cost more that a $1 a round.
I can recall.....awhile back....although I would really have to look for the article...
This actually happened around the corner from a gun "buy back"....."they" were paying something like $50 or $100 bucks...where the buyers in the parking lot were giving better prices.

Go to Walmart and buy a 1500 round bucket of .22 for $75-80, then invite 50 of your closest friends, give them 30 rds. each, give them half the money $15, and keep half for yourself...this still would net you around $ 675 if my calculations are correct. That is $750 minus the $75 you paid for the bucket of cash...errr bullets.

It would be interesting to take 30 fired cases and glue something bullet shaped in to them just to see if they would recognize that they were dummy rounds. (in more ways than one) But I'm not driving that far to find out.

I find these kinds of initiatives very, very sad. I'm a pastor. I'm going to assume the good intensions of these people. It's just that the deep and astonishing ignorance linked with our cultural distaste for critical thinking lead many to uninformed behavior. Like many other issues, emotions are so dominant, thoughtful conversation is often illusive.

One of those home makeover guys cornered me at Home Depot...Says, "I gonna make over your home....you need to bring 20 friends".

    Started calling around;
    "Nope sorry, bad back"
"When did you say?"...I didn't say...." Oh yeah I busy that day..."
    "Nope, can't have a colonoscopy"
"Can't need to wait by the phone for a call'....Don't you have a cell?..."Yeah well, need to wait anyway"

Only 30 rounds? What is that supposed to do? It would be funny to walk up with a 1500 round bucket of .22lr, count out 30, and tell them you're going to spend the money on more ammo.

Hopefully a bunch of pickups with pro-gun stickers fill the parking lot and they run out of money in 20 minutes.

Okay last one...buy some fake mustaches, two or three pairs of sunglasses, and a couple different jackets. You could go through the line several times. Then wait an hour and do it all over again.

Unfortunately I'm bettin they run out of money really fast. Then they'll try to convince you to give up the rest and you're firearm to the police and just be a "good little boy/girl".

They would have asked for the guns just like the rest of these crazy programs, but I'm sure they don't want the responsibility. Plus guns is scawy.

I have a buddy who went to one of those gun buy back deals - they paid $200/gun. He had a beat up pellet pistol - you know, the ones that look and operate like a 1911 - all steel - nice and heavy. He went in and they gave him the money - so he called around and tracked down 2 more at $10 each or some ridiculous price and did the same thing again. He was laughing that they had NO IDEA what they were buying. He said he literally just walked up - showed them it was empty and dropped it in a big plastic tub with other guns. Just too comical that people think this stuff actually works at all....

I was thinking a busload of kids form the local school could do this as a fundraiser for any extracurricular activities - let the church finance their fund drive!! A great deal for the band needing new uniforms...what's a decent size high school band these days...100 or 200 kids???
