Where is the best place to find information on identifying wild edibles and medicinal plants in the wilds of louisiana? A photo ID would be best. I have found Mayeuxministries on Youtube pretty good.

We have a living treasure in the form of Dr Charles Allen up this way... used to be the Post Biologist at Fort Polk. great guy, knows all kinds of cool stuff. Wrote a book about wild edibles. You can find it in a local library or on amazon. I also have the Peterson guide to both wild edibles and medicinal plants, and they're pretty good.

Dr Allen's got a web site too, http://www.nativeventures.net/ and he hosts (or used to... I haven't been in years) an annual tour of his nature reserve, bringing in experts from elsewhere in the state to fill in gaps... great time. could stay all weekend if you wanted to, or just attend one seminar for a couple hours.

Seeker, the information you were so gracious to pass on is one of the best things I've come across in a long time.

    Thank you very much!
