The weather is STILL LIKE CRAP today and cabin fever was killing me. So I have some upholstery leather, hefty strap material and a heavy zipper....So. I made a shoulder bag.

I didn't take many wip pics so I could stay on task. I cut out a front and back. A one piece center section. A pocket for one side and the strap. I installed the zipper and sewed the strap to the center section first. I put the sides on last.

The dimensions are about 20 x 17 x 8. Good sized bag that will hold a pile of stuff. Should be tough as nails too. Leather and heavy duty thread. Probably fairly weather resistant as is but I think I will treat it.

Rolls into a small package for storage.

    Here she is

    As sewn inside out.

    IMG_3174.JPG

I stuffed some clothes in it so I could show the shape. You can see the outside pocket in the snap too.

    IMG_3176.JPG

    Nice wide zipper opening.

    IMG_3177.JPG

I sewed the strap all the way around hoping for maximum strength.

    IMG_3178.JPG

Side view is kinda normal. That's what I was shooting for.

    IMG_3179.JPG

    IMG_3180.JPG

Rolls right up for easy storage!

Nothing earth shattering but got a wacky bag and didn't drive my honey insane... win win

    :)

I like how compact it rolls down to. Very utilitarian design. Excellent work.

Sir, if you are in need a a very durable but maybe a little wacky bag, please pm me address and it is yours. It will hold lots of stuff. I think I am going to add some grab handle this afternoon though. Couldn't think of a better home.

So, today I added some handles to the wacky bag

started here. bag, straps, extra leather, copper rivets

    IMG_3205.JPG

poked holes in the straps and the bag

    IMG_3206.JPG

added a little shim under the rivets in the inside of the bag

    IMG_3207.JPG

Two rivets on each end of the straps

    IMG_3209.JPG

Here it is ready to go

    IMG_3210.JPG

Glad it's going to be used and I sure hope it will last a while

    @MrFixIt

The wackey bag arrived and was instantly claimed by the wifey!
    Wifey: “I love it!”
Me: “Uh, yeah. Going to make a great go-bag for work.
Wifey, slipping the strap over her shoulder: “Oh, I love it! It’ll be perfect for an overnight bag. I can fit all my stufff in it!”
Me: “I love that you love it.”
    *smacks forehead*

Thanks brother, the bag is bomb proof!
Oh, and my wife said to tell you “Thank you” as well!
