I LOVE my Grumman 17 footer "Makule Akule" (mah-koo-leh, ah-koo-leh). I found her on local Craigslist several years ago, and pimped her Hawaiian style by adding an outrigger for extra stability since i use her for offshore fishing, and as a dive platform when spearfishing. I've had her out chasing birds in pursuit of Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna), and you should see the looks I get from guys in their $80,000 fishing machines. :4:

Man, it must be tough living out in the wilderness like that, with no one to talk to and nothing to do!

    Adopt me. Please!

I bet it also bugs the 80 K boat guys when you catch something and they don't.

My aunt still lives in Waipahu (we left in the 70's)...she's always saying I can come back anytime, ...I tell her I may...but it must be when the kids are out of high school...

I got a pretty good feeling if I went...I'd not come back. :D

Don't forget all that horrible weather. Winter must be horrible down there. Adopt me too. I come cheap and I do the dishes (occasionally).

The bare hull weighs in at 75 pounds. The ama (float) is foam core fiberglass from a OC-1 one man canoe, and weighs maybe 5 lbs. at most. The 'iako (outrigger arms) are made from 1.25" CPVC conduit with Douglas fir closet rods inserted for extra strength, and stiffness. They are attached to the hull bracing with 4 stainless steel U-bolts. These weigh I'm guessing 10 pounds total for both so I'm guessing hull with outrigger is 90 pounds bare.

Thank you one and all for all the positive comments.
