It is a beautiful day. No way I wanted to spend it at work. I took a long mid day break for a little wandering and flint and steel practice. I headed to my usaual area but made a new camp in a different spot. It was warm with a slight breeze and I wanted to take advantage of it. I chose a spot at the edge of a ridge.

    Camp for the day.

    A bench was priority one.

I did not want a fire but wanted to practice flint and steel fire starting. I picked this striker from @Red Yeti a few weeks ago.

It is pretty sparky and took one strike to get this lit.

I just about burnt my fingers with the coal extender (jute twine). I dropped it on the ground and had to move quick because I was to far from fire when lighting.

    Flora spotted today.

A first for me, I believe this to be Ghost Plant. According to my guide book is a wildflower and not a fungus.

Crappy photo but I think it might be Bouncing Bet

    Tall Coreopsis

    Wild Bergamot I believe.

As I was leaving the park I watched a coyote wander across the road in front of me. It is the first live one I have seen in my area. That’s it for this trip. Now I have to go back to work. Thanks for coming along.
