Took a day and a half off from work to explore the Eastside of the Cascades. Stayed at a buddies cabin and got two days of hiking in. It was great to get out into the mountains and do some exploring of an area that I had not seen since the fires from 2017. With rainy and cool weather to start on Tuesday it felt like was finally here. A lot of area was burned. I'm glad this year was more mild and the forest has had time to recover. The mild weather has provided a bumper crop of blueberries. We ate our fill and they we delicious. Day 2 was really nice with no rain. This area had not been touched by the fire. A doe. But where is your boyfriend? Had some time to kill before the drive back so I chilled by the river and decided to try a bowdrill. Found everything along the river rocks... tried to make a piece of leather and stone work for a bearing block but that did not work. Used a piece of burnt wood for the hearth... I think the combo was cottonwood and fir. Used my new MP to carve the set. Love how this scandi is performing. and one last shot That was a much needed trip. Thanks for looking!
