Bought this hatchet for $14 in a mountain side antique shop. Turned out to be a little Gransfors!
Still got a lot to do but here's the progress so far. Only could take off so much rounding to preserve the crown logo but it's gonna be a kindling axe so it doesn't have to be perfect.

lol well to me its extreme since I usually just coat it with linseed oil after sanding. but this handle has a few cracks I sanded out and the head is a little loose (and wedged with a few different things) but I really like the handle so I'm just soaking the whole thing in a linseed oil bucket overnight and hoping it'll fill some unwanted gaps. Then I'm going to re-sand the handle a bit and burn some color into it before re oiling.

Nice. I like to save old handles too, especially if they are only a bit loose. I love the patina to them and like to preserve as much of that as possible while still having a solid usable haft.

Looking forward to the rest of the story!

I have a similar one a traded for a couple of years ago. I had to re-haft it though. I still have to make a sheath for it.

Great job in giving an old tool new life. Also glad you kept it what it was, a nice little camp hatchet and didn’t try to make it into a super custom designer axe. It should serve your purposes all day long.
