    Hello all,

Got out this morning for a quick hike with the Pup while the temperature is a bit lower. Went to a low lying area that in the winter is really a large swamp but right now is just full of willow and blackberries. For our outing I let the Pup lead the way and the pace.

It is fun to see him interacting with nature and exploring. While there we found a pretty big orb spider and spent a good five minutes watching it do its thing.

We also ate many blackberries that were along the trail.

While the Pup was focused on the blackberries I grabbed materials for a willow spindle and hearth from some dead wood that had been trimmed recently.

As this is a swampy area there were a bunch of little bridges along the way that the Pup enjoying crossing.

After about a mile of hiking he was done walking and wanted on Dad's shoulders so up he went.

You can see the materials I gathered for friction fire work in my hand.

The full hike is just over a couple of miles but he is showing some real promise of being able to do a short backpacking trip next spring/summer. Looking forward to it.

    Thank you for looking,

    Coyote

    Thank you.

Thank you. This age is a lot of fun. The world is so new to him but he is big enough to start exploring.

I thought about something the other day... one of these days, our young ones are going to be telling their friends how they've been hiking and camping their WHOLE life. These pics will be their proof! :)
