You think that was bad, back in the mid 80's I was working at a movie theatre. We were showing "Pale Rider" with Clint Eastwood. Guy comes in and asked what "Pale Rider" was about. I told him "it's a Clint Eastwood western". His reply staggered me. "Oh, I didn't know Clint Eastwood did westerns!".

Jeremiah Johnson was pretty much Galifianakis' defining role. How could anyone not know this? Shameful.

To go from everyone saying that Brad Pitt is a younger Robert Redford to Zack Galafasomething, is pretty crappy.

I'm probably giving away my age again, but gotta be honest: I had no idea what a young Robert Redford looked like. I definitely didn't recognize him in the meme. Guess that means I'm part of the problem? ;)

i was young single digit age when my dad took me to watch THE STING. five? maybe. completely flew over my head. no clue what was going on.

i remembered it, and watched it later when i was an adult. LOVED IT.

this is a bushcraft forum. you all think Jeremiah Johnson was a documentary! hahha. okay, i kid. i kid. but seriously, it's our interest..not everybodies. makes total sense someone wouldnt know it. know RR. just like i dont know some of the new actors/artist. just not my interest.

for the record, i like the movie Brubaker better than JJ.

oh..my faith in humanity went out the door when i saw a bunch of kids squeeze past an elderly lady holding groceries..and they let the door shut on her face.
i helped take her stuff to her car..

one day, someone will put me in their WILL. one day. :)

If he was the movie would be much shorter...

All the Goobers wake up from the drug fueled stupor, Jeremiah Johnson, who's been up for hours already skinning the tiger left behind by Mike Tyson, finishes, packs up all the leftover expensive booze, ties his new "forest wife" to a pack animal and heads off to the next rendezvous to sell all the rare swag he just collected...

Actually, I've never seen the Hangover. Or the sequel.
I started to watch it but lost interest. Didn't like any of the characters. And I usually like those buddy/drinking party type movies.
But I know enough about pop culture, or maybe current events at the time?, to get the Tyson tiger reference.
I'm probably holding my own just to know who Zach is

Who and who? I don't know any actors or actresses. They are all the same to me. Sure I have heard names before but a face to the name or a movie with them in it, I can not tell or care about.

I'm 28 and was brought up watching Westerns. Kevin Costner in Silverado is another favorite of mine. Jeremiah Johnson is one I try and watch once each year...... such a classic of the Western genre. :dblthumb:

My parents/grandparents are from Texas and they all grew up watching westerns.
So by default, I grew up watching westerns too :D.

I was a kid in the 80’s, but the westerns I watched were High Chaparral, Bonanza, GunSmoke, Cheyenne, stuff from the 60’s mainly.

I was even named after a character on one of these shows! :dblthumb:

Maybe it's the same people who dont know that Trump is the president.

I took time one day to explain to a young man about what was going on about the anti-vaccine news stories. I told him the truth about both sides of the issue.

I then ask if he had heard of polio and he said no, I told him "you can thank vaccines for that" then I had to explain what polio was.

GOD Bless you and your families

    You know...
The younger you are... the more chances you should have had to watch this old stuff. Relatively speaking.

I "had" to watch JJ in a movie theater. It was YEARS before cable came out and maybe I caught it being shown on TBS.
Which was YEARS before we had dedicated movie channels.

Sure, there were VHS rental stores, but I don't recall anyone back then renting something they already saw.

Heck, I'll bet I've watched Sergeant York more times than my father. And he's 95 :11:

Nope. I'm throwing the negligence by youth argument out the window :14:

Sadly, that's the world we live in today. I'm thankful I'm closer to the end of my life than the beginning if those kids are a harbinger of what is to come.

You think it's bad that people didn't recognize Robert Redford? Just wait! The 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing is this month!!
