The Bushcraft USA Serechete is a great companion for a truck, ATV, kit, or for carrying on your hip in a variety of environments. A meld of concepts from years of trial and error have yielded a very unique and useful tool. To start with the handle is flared at the end much like and axe handle is. This gives a positive grip even when conditions are less than optimal. The first 3" of the blade are a traditional Scandinavian Grind. We feel this type of profile lends itself to completing fine tasks such a making dead fall traps and making fine shavings for firecraft. The rest of the 10.5" blade has a convex grind which makes chopping saplings for sheltercraft an easy chore. This grind also makes short work of dead standing wood that is a necessity for starting fires in wet weather. The convex grind continues around the rounded end which was designed for digging edible and medicinal roots from the ground. It also works as a spatula in a pinch. The Serechete is a great addition to any Woodsmans bushcraft or survival kit.

    • 1/8" 01 steel
    • 16” OAL
    • Rockwell Hardness 57-59
    • OD canvas micarta scales
    • Dual grind: Scandi near handle for fine work that transitions into convex for chopping
    • Sharpened rounded tip
    • Kydex dangler sheath included

Is that a Skrama-like double bevel grind I see? Initial impression looks good! Probably gonna be too rich for my blood when it's out - though maybe some selling off of other items would be in order to generate funds! Hahaha.

Can I assume that using a manufacturer like that might mean MORE Serechete's might be available? :)

I really like the design. It kinda reminds me of a golok, maybe that's what it is to some degree.

Those look nicely executed. It will be a huge plus to deal with a reliable source who has the manufacturing capability to turn these out at a reasonable rate. Nice job:dblthumb:.

I’m glad that you went with a new manufacturer. The last few that I got were a disappointment.

I know there was one batch that had some minor issues with the finish. I have an older one and it is up to Sargent's normal quality.

Time to work on your google-fu and practice your buy-it-now finger exercises

I really like the design of this tool. Much more effective in my neck of the woods than an axe. I use a heavy parang right now....and it gets used hard....clearing underbrush, chopping, batoning, and digging. I don't cut my machetes any slack. This tool looks like it would fit my needs to a tee....

We will probably have 20 available when they go up. We will give advanced notice a few days before they go up so people have a chance to get one.

I don't have the money, but they are so popular they are sure to sell. Especially after some people get them and post pictures here and elsewhere. Its a great design. Did you come up with it? There definitely needs to be a story, real or lore about this blade, maybe both. :)

I wonder if a small version would sell? Like a GNS size handle with a 5 or 6 inch rounded nose like that? With the rounded nose and wide (tall) blade. Just brainstorming around here.

I will have to wait, if I can score one at all. I have far too much going on right now.

Agree with @Wasp above. A more compact version would be a great idea!

I was thinking it would b good thinner for food and other stuff, but regular knife thickness for a small chopper, cutter, feather sticks and fire prep, etc, etc. Could be very interesting. Not that it would replace this tool at all.

Sorry, not trying to sidetrack the thread, just occurred to me and thought I'd mention it.

When the Serechete was SET-made, I am pretty sure some smaller ones were made. So it seems on topic to me at least. :)

He did 3 smaller prototypes. I tried them and in my opinion you need the length to get the speed t make clean cuts.
