Like spring follows winter and day follows night the New Hampshire get together follows the New England Field Day.

To be held on June 4-5, 2016 at the Great Brook Trail in scenic and historic Deerfield NH.

    Friends, food and fire!

We'll be looking forward to it Jim, your meets are always a fun time, and thanks again for contributing to our Freetown State Forest meets, I know it's a bit of a haul from your place, your support is appreciated.

I think unless something drastic comes up you can put me down for a strong.. YUP. As this will be my first visit to you up there I have a quick question or three. First, are we hiking in or parking close to overnight area, just need to know to pack a bag or my truck. second, is water close or bring some. Last, Jim can you post or PM me some kind of location, address or meetup point as again, I haven't been there before. An overnighter sounds like lots of fun, looking forward to it, thanks Jim

Directions to The Great Brook Trail from points south

Ok folks here are directions to the Great Brook Trail in Deerfield NH from points south and south west.

Get to Route 93 north and follow it into NH.

Once in NH Rte 93 will pass through Manchester and you will see signs for Route 101 East

Take Rte 101 east to Exit 3 in the town of Candia

At the top of the ramp go right towards state route 43 north towards Deerfield.

About a mile and a half after the exit you will see a sign for rte 43/Deerfield and a flashing yellow light in front of a church.

Turn left onto Rte 43 towards Deerfield.

    Continued....

After that left onto rte 43 you will follow it into Deerfield.

Shortly after crossing the Deerfield/Candia town line you will see a big hay field on your right and ascend a hill.

At the crest of the hill Rte 43 takes a sharp turn to the right be careful.

43 will merge with Rte 107 a few miles later below a fairgrounds.

As you enter the town center of Deerfield 43/107 ascends another hill and makes another sharp turn to the right. Prior to this you will see the town post office on your left as well as a ball field.

After that sharp turn you will pass under some power lines while decending a hill. You will see an American Legion hall on your right and just past that is Nottingham Road on your right.

Take a right onto Nottingham Road and follow it until you come to what looks like a little village. Stay right on Nottingham Road.

Just past this village is Harvey Road on your left.

Take a left on Harvey Road.

The Great Brook Trail is about one half mile down on Harvey Road and on the right. There is a sign and a small space to park.

Google maps has been accurate from Harvey Rd to Freetown State forest so if you use that it will also get you there.

It most certainly is. There are no facilities however but walking the trail itself is a good activity.

You will have about a 100 meter walk in from the parking area.

Is this a semi structured event like the spring and fall meets at Freetown or more of purely social event?

Sounds like all the Bushcrafting will consist of, *Setting up your tarp and sleep systems, *Cooking over an open fire, *Build fire to tell Bushcrafting stories by at night. WORKS FOR ME Lol

Yikes! That's three thrown out backs in two New England meets. The stars are aligned against us. We will send up prodigious amounts of smoke offerings this weekend to purge this from the region.

Seriously I hope you feel better soon. See you at the next one.

We just got back from Jimmy's NH. meet, sadly we couldn't stay over for sunday, but we had a great time, the weather was fantastic, the bugs were few, and the Jumbalya was over the top, it was great to see some of our old friends again.
Jimmy was a great host as usual, so, Thanks again Jimmy for a wonderful day by the fire, the good food, and great conversation. :35:
I'm looking forward to the fall get to gethers down here and at your camp. :dblthumb:
