How much for an Aurochs blade with the glow running all the way down the handle, but still keeping the wood on the sides?

@kairo - hello my dear friend! From what i understand you are referring to liners and in this case 3mm thick kirinite starlight liners would add 25 usd to the standard price of the knife. From here it fully depends what wood/material we would use on top of the liners and if there is something else than the standard ones (walnut, oak and natural micarta) i would need to know and pass you its added price ;)

All the best mate, God bless,

Using something like black micarta or carbon fiber with the full length kirinite liners would make for a very futuristic looking 21st century knife!

    Bogdan,

What are the dimensions of the Auroch? Specifically, what is the height of the Aurochs blade, mid-way down and at the ricasso/plunge lines? And the handle on a typical contour, how thick does it start out, how thick is the palm swell, the taper, and the pommel?

Before ordering, I'd like to get an idea of how it will fit my hand or compare to other knives that I know fit me well. Thanks!

@JasonJ - here we go my friend:

    - blade width starting at the ricasso: 25 mm and 24 mm half the way down, the tip area geometry is slightly tougher than the original woodlore knife ;)
    - handle thickness is highly dependent o materials used in there; if for example a customer opt for a mammoth bone without any liners i will have to go super slim as those bones does not come in thicknesses higher than 8-9 mm (this is just an example).
Usually, if i am allowed and the combination we choose also allows i start with an approximately 12 mm thick scale; from this thickness i would say that 1 mm is lost during processing so the thickest parts (palm swell and the pommel) would aim for a 10-11 mm thickness per scale). The taper would go down to 8-9 mm as the Corby allows me.
Honestly i never aim for the standard yet adapt the handles on customer request and of course put aside some 'space' for material faults and other 'surprises' that might appear inside material.
That being said i would say that there are no two Aurochs knife handles the same yet they follow the 'standard' guidelines mentioned above ;)

Hopefully i was of any help but please feel free to ask if there is something unclear.

    All the best, God bless,
    Bogdan

Sounds perfect, exactly the explanation I was looking for. I was thinking satin-finished Auroch with bog oak scales, red v-fiber thin liners... dimensions about what you mentioned would probably be doable- especially if using two sets of thin liners in contrasting colors, if need be. I also would prefer mosaic pins if available, but I don't think those limit how much you can taper the handle there.

I now have some design and measurement things to think about, thanks!

@JasonJ - that setup is perfectly doable even a 'king kong' thickness is available :D. I just had a look for the mosaic pins and it seems that you are in luck - 1 pair left from the past and you can have it for free - small charge for setting them up and that's all. The price for bog oak+red v fiber+mosaics+lanyard would sum 175 usd ;); add 35 usd if you decide on one of my lovely wive's standard sheaths or the second option as follows (which is something i unveil for the first time now ;)):

    - new sheath design - similar yet not identical with what you requested - an upgraded version of the one presented here on forums - for the first customer that orders that the price would be 45 usd (later it will be sold for 50 usd)
    - firesteel loop (on the welt) - that will add 10 usd
    - matching firesteel - that would add 35 usd (aprox 6 cm long, 9 mm thick rod)

All the best my dear friend, God bless,
    Bogdan

@Carabnr - thanks mate for your appreciation - if you are referring to the light in which the pic was taken it is in semi darkness no high tech lights in here ;)
The kirinite reacts like any other glow in the dark material by being exposed to light and storing energy in it for a given amount of time.
Please do excuse me if i didn't understood well but i am not a native speaker unfortunately so i might have missed the essence :)

Alright all. So I loved the glow in the dark liners, and I also loved the black micarta scales on the Aurochs posted earlier.

I sent in my money and ordered an Aurochs blade with the full handle glow in the dark liners and the black micarta scales on top. Should be an awesome knife when it arrives :D

That should be an incredible look! I also ordered an Aurochs blade, but mine is bog oak scales with red liners. These things are like Lego's, so many combinations from the same parts.

yeah, I pretty much decided I needed/wanted a "pretty knife" of my own specifications. I tried the making my own thing.... it was rough and hard going. I'll come back to that I think... but in the meantime, a nice heirloom quality piece will be wonderful to have. (and use).

Looking good there, Bogdan! I think the Beaver model is a very svelte blade... a great companion sized knife for all-purpose tasks. Looks like a great carver too with that finer point.

@JasonJ - thank you so much mate for your words - indeed the Beaver is meant to be 'the carver' in our knife range and we have feedback that it really does its job as designed ;)
@Usingmyrights - hey mate - this one is a custom order for a forum mate in here - but there will be no problem to have another one made as i still have a pair of grade 10 scales left over here ;) - PM me if you are interested and i will take care to put these aside for you.

All the best boys, God bless,
    Bogdan

Black micarta over black corian liners... that's brilliant.
My first order with you is slowly forming in my mind!
