    Love mine!

Its good for a day pack and great for an overnighter. The extended straps from Amazon are a must though.

Still Old School I don't like Nylon
I have the non-waxed Duluth Rucksack
If it looks like rain I have a plastic bag that I got in England free with a hiking magazine , it is all patched up with duct tape but still keeps the water out.
I had the earlier model Bean pack with the sheep skin shoulder straps but I think I traded it off because it was made in China.

That'll be a nice project. Please post some pictures of the finished product, I'd like to see that.

Edit: I was super excited when I ended up getting this pack for Christmas! First impression is that the construction looks super solid. Now I jus need to get out and use it lol.

I have one of these as well and I love it. Anyone ever thought of waterproofing it in some way? Any suggestions on how?

Also, does anyone find that the straps on the bottom of the bag are a bit short?

I was looking at Ebay for a used model.. Strangely enough, many of the used packs are selling for very close to (if not MORE THAN) retail. Guess I'll wait for another LLBEAN sale.

Anyone feel that these are too large for a daypack?

@Watcher of the Woods... the bigger it is, the more you will want to fill it up. I like it for a daypack if I am going for a whole day, but it does carry well even if it is not fully loaded. Sooo0, no. I do not feel like it is too large.

Anyone have a picture of themselves wearing it? It says it's 33L... I have a 36L Osprey pack that I use for backpacking, but it seems huge compared to this.

@Panzer has good video on it:

At the end, he puts it on and you can see it in profile while he is walking.

I feel the same, for me this is perfect for a day pack, urban tested only for now, but I leave the house with a chunk of edc. As it's winter now I have one side pocket loaded with gloves, hat and foot spikes, the other a hair brush, hair oil and wooden comb (deciding between them yet) also a small tub of coconut oil for lips etc. the middle pocket I have werthers originals and halls soothers for my throat as it's been rough in the cold weather, plus a 30,000 mah battery and cable for phone if needs be. The bulk normally only carries a shemagh/scarf and a 1.5l glass water bottle. Extra shirt and trousers or base layer longjons.
It tends to fill up quickly during the day though, with food or other aquirements from cds (currently collecting dead ones for a project so collect these from people often) or carrying other things to and from work etc.
I haven't filled it more than a few times and thats mostly with food shopping.

Love my nylon LL Bean Continental Ruck. Bean says it is waxed nylon. Canvas was too much heavier and more $$.

I agree it is heavier and I traded mine off for that reason

I just bought a canvas one from fellow member LJHfrstr here and would like to know about the amazon straps that have been mentioned here. Anyone have a precise name for them or link please?
