    ESEE Compass Cards
Three instruction cards printed front and back plus four transparent map overlay cards for calculating azimuths, UTM coordinates for GPS and Topo map, distance, area, kilometers to miles, miles to kilometers, and magnetic declination. These are a great aid for learning land navigation skills, or for speeding up basic tasks for those who already have land nav skill.

    French Army F1 Commando Tent
Technically surplus, these olive drab pup tents appear to be brand new and straight from the factory. There is no indication they were ever used or issued.

the Blizzard bags are the real deal for emergency use, very thoroughly tested by several different agencies. I have them in both my vehicles and carry them for day hikes too.

It is totally new. Not even listed on the Blizzard or PerSys websites at the moment. We're going to open one today and find out.

Fully stretched, it's 78 in. x 46 in. It makes a very good blanket, but you can't get 360 degree full length coverage from these dimensions. It's ideal if you're sitting or crouching, or if you have an insulating layer underneath your body and use the blanket for a full-length cover. When I lay on it lengthwise, it's not wide enough to wrap around my shoulders with full coverage.

I would rather carry the Blizzard Compact Blanket than the larger Blizzard Survival Bag, but I would rather use the larger bag than the blanket. For me it depends on environmental conditions. If it's wet or there's snow, then the full Blizzard Survival Bag would be the way to go. Probably also if it's below zero, since the bag has two insulating layers versus the Compact Blanket's single Reflexcell layer. If I'm in a relatively dry environment where I can more easily draw in outside resources to preserve body temp, I think I would go with the Compact Blanket.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks! agree that cold weather the original bag would be a more prudent option, but for 5 oz (and it’s small volume) the compact could be really useful when pushed for weight/room, especially in less hostile conditions

The smaller blanket looks like it is at least minimally sufficient for adults and better still for kids. Furthermore at less than half the cost of the Blizzard bag it is accessible to more people and I bet people would be less hesitant to break one out and use it. I can imagine plenty places where these would come in handy but where hunkering down in a survival bag wouldn't be that great an idea.

Good stuff, Andy. I will have to see where my tax refund takes me this year. :)

TACTICAL TRAUMA TREATMENT (T3) ISRAELI BANDAGE
The new T3 Israeli Bandage has all the standard features: sterile wound dressing, elastic compression wrap, pressure applicator, stop-and-go stitching, and closure bar. It adds removable sterile gauze pads that can be used to pack wound channels, create separate dressings for secondary wounds, etc. I think this is a great addition that will really come in handy for things like through-and-through wounds.

    How elastic are these?
I know, not an easy question to answer really.
I'll probably just order some and find out for myself, so I should not bother you by asking, but I did............

I don't use a ton of bands, but I only have one bicycle tube I've been cutting on for years, so I only have one size.
It's not very elastic, pretty stiff actually, and even worse in our cold weather here.

Would you guess these EPDM ones are a little stretchier?
It's kind of a loaded question, I know.

They're pretty stiff. We get this question a lot, and it is a little tricky to answer. On Friday I tested them out and found that you can typically stretch them to about twice their unstretched flat dimension.

By way of contrast, we also offer mil-spec parachute bands, and those are very stretchy. But they're latex, as opposed to the EPDM we use for the ranger bands. I just used the parachute bands to secure the extra webbing on my luggage rack, so that it doesn't stream out behind me as I go down the road.

    Thanks @andy.t, I appreciate it.
Twice their length is better than I expected.
I ordered a mixed assortment bag, and a bag of the parachute bands too. I figured if I have them around I'll find uses for them too.
