    Hello all,

I have this project in mind for some time yet i would not want to waste time and money without comunity's advice ;)

I'll explain on short in order not to waist your valuable time: ' the most affordable 'one man' handmade knife'.

Description: puukko style, hidden tang, scandi grind, O1 steel, brass guard, finnish curly birch handle.

Finnishing: just to a level of full functionality and decent look.

Price range estimated to arround 75 usd/piece.

This knife would offer a high quality blade with high cutting capabilities, 'dressed' nice but not fancy yet classy that would still be fully handmade by me alone and would cost less than an expensive Mora :D

Please let me know if interested and if there will be interest maybe we can put together a small order list for the first batch ;)

Thanks a lot for your time and support!

    All the best, God bless,
    Bogdan

So thinking like a 3-3.5" (77-90mm) blade length? Maybe like a 100-110mm handle?

I'd be interested in something like that.. a down and dirty functional knife. Perhaps bundle it with a VERY SIMPLE, pouch style sheath .. $100 all in.

Something like this (which was made from a Morakniv blank), which sold for $125 from Estonia...maybe not exactly like, but similar or "in the style of"...

A functional, working grade puukko with the steel you use at $75 will sell like hotcakes.

Absolutely yes. An even bigger yes if one could be 'custom' ordered with a differing handle material. :D

For a hard use knife with a different handle material.. I'd like to see micarta be an option. Not as fragile or sensitive to moisture as wood. Plus if I do have to beat it up a bit... Less likely to be damagd.

This sounds like something that would end up as an everyday carry utility fixed blade for me...

Thanks a lot for your input - the wood will be polyurethane coated (as Helle does). Micarta does not work yet as a hidden tang would become crazy heavy and quitw fragmented as at least here i cannot supply it as a block :)

When 5 orders will be hit, if they will be, i will work with these 5 customers on blade design, final price and other details i could leave on your choice ;)

    All the best, God bless,
    Bogdan
