    O1 tool steel
    5/32"
    4" blade
    4 1/2" handle
    convex grind
This is a knife I made about a year ago so its not really new. Thinking about putting this one in the line up in the near future once I get caught up with orders. Possibly do some in 3/16" also. .Going to try to add more grind options also.

That sure is a beauty! If it was 3/16" thick and about a 5-inch blade, I would say it would be THE perfect knife. I love everything about the look of this knife. Well done sir! Hell, put me on the list while you are still pondering about it...lol!

Nice looking knife. If you did do it in 3/16 I would prefer a 5" blade my self. That would be a beast

Thanks, I just glued a set of scales on one that I have been working on between orders. This one has a welded pommel plate. Work is progressing slowly as orders do take precedence. But it shouldn't be too much longer. I'll get some more pics up soon.
You have some good looking work going on yourself.

I was looking at the Kestrel ( I believe thats what the model was, it had red scales) that BH45 just sold and it had a similar drop point to it like this design does. I was wondering what the designed purpose or advantage of it would be. I have my own idea/guess but would appreciate what both of your thoughts are in regard to its purpose, advantage, use.

Designed as a hunting /camp knife . With a 4" blade and 4 1/2" handle with a convex grind. Most of my knife designs have a gentle curve from pommel to tip. I think it puts the knife in a very comfortable and more natural grip ,especially when placing your finger or thumb on the spine for more controlled cuts such as when skinning. With the curved grip and the hour glass shape this knife is comfortable for extended use.

Looks like a very capable knife. I like the high primary grind. Good lines on that one.

Thanks for the reply. Does that shape have an advantage in processing wood ( batoning, feather sticks etc). I am finding myself more and more interested in trying different designs beyond what I already have. One of these days I need to go to a meet up or some other event where different styles are available to handle and actually try them out.

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this.

I've used a blade that has that kind of curve to it. The biggest advantage I've found is in doing feather sticks and shavings. The curve keeps the sweet spot of the cutting edge on the wood for making better curls. Unfortunately feathers was the most I got to use that blade for. But if it works like the Talon, which has a more subtle curve, you get a lot less wrist fatigue while doing other chores.
