Mrs. Mango sent me to the river house today, 200 mile one way, to put our plants up, 3ferns and my big potted pant that I've had for 45 years, yes 45years, because we're expecting a frost tonight. Well, while I was in WalMart getting my groceries I bought this folding handle skillet, pic 1. Tonight I cooked cabbage and sausage for supper in it and it was really good. I love this new skillet and think it will become one of my favorite pieces of kit. There are a couple of pics of supper also. I think with my grease "billy" pot and this skillet I IMG_1687 (3).JPG IMG_1688 (1).JPG IMG_1689 (1).JPG pretty well have my bases covered. Enjoy

    Supper looks yummy!!
Is that pan Teflon coated steel? I think I saw those in our Walmart before... would definitely consider one if plain carbon steel.

It has a coating of some kind, but I don't know what it is and the label just said a non-stick coating. I'm really pleased with it so far after tonight. If the coating starts peeling, at less that seven $, it's not a big loss.

I had one of those. Works great as long as you don’t get it too hot and don’t use metal utensils in it.
My buddy ruined the one I had by doing that...

    Your supper looks great!

i had one of these and on the first morning cooking bacon over and open fire the coating on the inside started to peel and scrape off(using bamboo spatula). i have moved over to the plain steel pans now as they will let me cook over open flames as well as in the kitchen,

When you say open fire, do you mean like a camp fire or burner type fire?

tried it on a camp fire and kept it of set from the direct flame but it made little difference.
